Rated 5 out of 5 by First Rod I Ever Bought. I am enjoying it greatly! I was going to buy a much more expensive rod but when I went to the local Dick's they didn't have the one I wanted. I did see this rod on the internet first and wrote it down but kept browsing and found a more expensive one. Well, they didn't have the more expensive rod there in Medium Light and I told myself if I found one I would buy it right then and there. Lo and behold this was the only Medium Light rod Dick's had and I scooped it up immediately! I was going to buy a more expensive reel as well but then I found the Inferno Spinning Reel 300 which was the size I had wrote down from my internet browsing. Basically my local Dick's had both rod and reel that were my first choice. For the price I paid for both I bought me some string and some new tackle. I use Power Pro Super 8 10 lb with 10 lb Seaguar Flourocarbon. It casts like a dream and I haven't had any problems with it except for the occasional spool knot. The reel has a metal piece where the string slides up but it has a sharp edge where the spool guard and string keeper meet and my super thin string sometimes gets stuck in it. I've landed more fish with this combo than I ever have with Zebco's. For the price I paid for both Inferno Rod & Reel I would have only bought a Rod. The only thing I wish was that it was longer. I also didn't know it was two pieces until after 4 or 5 fishing trips later that I noticed the string eyes had moved. I pulled it apart and pushed it back in and it sealed nice and tightly. If you want a good Black Bass rod this will serve you nicely. It breaks down in half and the two pieces are about 3' long. The rod itself is really thin. Thinner than a pencil. I've caught some 2-3 pounders and haven't had a single issues landing them. I do recommend you use the string to fight the fish instead of the rod shaft especially when bringing them onto the bank. You will also want to set the hook with a little force because most fish I catch I don't even set the hook really hard, they basically hook themselves!!! I have lost a few fish though because of the easy hook up I never jam the hook into the fish. I will start doing it harder in the future. Great for small/light tackle and throwing finesse style baits like worms. It has some trouble with jigs though and large spinner baits. It works surprisingly well with small crankbaits and swim baits. Excellent for small frogs and top water because it will dance the lures for you. October 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Field&Stream rod I've purchased (4) of these rods for myself and my son we have enjoyed them very much. We live in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia and have multiple rivers to fish. The rod has very good action and has handled sum very nice large and small mouth bass. We've used your products in the past to great satification. Thank you and keep up the good work. September 9, 2015

Rated 4 out of 5 by Exellent value bought this rod for my 10 y/o daughter. we went out two days ago on a local lake and she hammered the blue gills, sunnys, small bass and even got a 16 inch blue cat. rod performed perfectly, transmitting bites setting the hook and landing the fish. very happy with it. Only out one time so far so cant give it five stars but so far so good. I am so impressed with field and stream rod I may buy the tec lite for myself and see how that handles. July 29, 2015
