Rated 5 out of 5 by Performed better than expected. Used this rod with a salt water reel and fished at Flamingo. It handled salt water fish with no problem. Great feel for the action. March 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by light weight but strong i use this rod for bass and crappie fishing it is very light weight but it is strong i caught a seven lb bass with it no problems February 26, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice and Cheap Purchased this rod and it worked beautifully. Good feel for a cheap price. I paired it with a Penn Fierce reel, and caught some pretty nice fish my first time out with this rod. April 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 years and going strong!! BACKGROUND: salt grassflats, kayak, redfish/trout/flounder/whatever, 10-12# test...purch HIS602ML in-store, Spring '13; see my prev comments back then FOR THE MONEY: ***** (5 stars!) This rod passes my longevity standard! LOL Just beginning to show tiny bit of oxidation at a few of the guide-feet. I'm good for at least another year, maybe more. This is not a high-end rod, let alone a custom. But for the money, and the conditions I see it in...I'll definitely go back and get another! And I'll convert my other rods to this brand, once they are at end-of-life. Might even purchase now, in anticipation.... This light rod has handled all the fish one would expect, including 20 minute, 1/4 mile sleigh rides. Partner filmed...I watched...I'm amazed that this medium-light rod took it all with perfect grace, just as a much higher-priced rod would. Backbone? In reasonable hands, yes...all the backbone you need, in this easy-to-cast-all-day rod. That some writers-in have had major issues: 1) mfr defects are possible, no matter the price. Did the store/mfr make good on it? 2) operator headspace 1 - with a fairly light rod and a bigger fish on, one cannot horse it...you must play it, know when to crank, know when to let her take line, and NEVER try to lift into boat using the rod. 3) operator headspace 2 - care, maintenance.... I handle these things with kid gloves during transport (they're the tools of my trade when I'm miles from nowhere in the yak), and rinse well with fresh water immediately when I come back in (I carry jugs of water for this purpose) I'm not affiliated with the mrkter or mfr in anyway. That I'm willing to write all this speaks to the way this rod has impressed me. I consider myself a VERY serious fisherman, and am willing to turn on others to my discoveries. That's all. I trust the brand is still adhering to the same quality standards that were built into the rod I purchased 2 yrs ago. If so...I know where my next new rod is! March 22, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Junk, broke with 2 lb line 2 feet broke off the tip second day of trout fishing with 2 lb line. Stranded in the stream with a junk pole. If i could find the receipt I would return it for a refund. April 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 7' MH Seeing I was very impressed with the 6' medium power rod for freshwater, I decided to also purchase a 7' MH for light action surfcasting. Under the right conditions, the 7' MH can cast a 3/8 ounce Rapala Flat Rap way out there! I recently had a day fishing from a jetty landing a total of 27 smaller striped bass and easily feeling every hit. I was able to set the hook easily and lift them onto the jetty with no troubles. I also landed a 3 pound bluefish one day and the rod made it a fun fight. Another nice thing is the rod never comes apart. November 8, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Bang For Your Buck Fantastic rod for the money. Not going to find a nicer rod for 30$.feels like a 100$ rod all day. I picked up the 6 foot medium light action. Super impressed how it feels super light, super sensitive. Replaced my extremely well worn ugly stik I've been using forever. Will recommend this product to everyone I bump into on the ponds and lakes. June 27, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Too early to tell Reviews (in response to your company's request) shortly after a purchase - like THIS one - are only of questionable value. I'll need time to see how the merch holds up (salt water - redfish - but I rinse immediately; and the stress during fish-fighting/transport). I prefer shorter rods (in a kayak...shorter means less things hanging over bow to get fouled in line during a fight, for me, anyway). As it is, I cut off a few inches from the butt and 'plugged'. No need for a serious 'fighting butt' on a rod that's this lightweight & meant for smaller gamefish. Just more junk to get caught-up in my lap. Seems to cast well and accurately enough. And I will attest to its advertised 'sensitivity'. I'm equipped with braid on this one, so that's also part of the equation. I have become fond of another brand of rod [discontinued] which HAS held up to the test of time (2 yrs and going strong) for less than half the price that I paid for this one. Hence, my neutral rating of this Inferno at this point. Happy fishing! May 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pleasant Surprise! For 30 dollars this rod fishes and feels like one in the hundred dollar range. Cannot say how pleased...and surprised I was with the action and on the water performance. Five start all the way. May 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Outstanding Value I have bought 2 of these Field and Stream rods 6' and 6.5' . they both have caught nice size Largemouth Bass at my local lake. The handles are very comfortable for all day use. The guides are very smooth on the Braid Line I use. Great Deal and Outstanding Value :o) April 30, 2013
