Rated 5 out of 5 by Pleased23 Great Investment I was skeptical about this product at first due to some of the reviews that stated it was wobbly. Being my first inground basketball system I did a lot of research before I bought it for type of construction material and price and I must say I am very satisfied with this product as it very stable with very limited wobble that can't hardly be seen and does not have any effect on any type of shot. This system is a great value for durability, quality material, stability, and price. Instead of having a hole 16in diameter, I made it 20in diameter. I also squared off the hole 4in from the top. Took a little more concrete but I think it will be well worth it. This product was very easy to assemble by the detailed instructions. I was able to install the complete system by myself. I used a small amount of lubricant to put the two poles together. I stood on something about 3ft high to really get some height and good downward force when picking up the poles and slamming down. Still took a little bit but was able to get the top pole past the bottom pole line somewhat easily. I used a step ladder to put the backboard on by putting the lower arms at the height that when I placed the backboard on the top of the step ladder it would line up with the lower arms to install the bolts easily. I also checked the levelness of the system throughout the installation many times to ensure it was accurate. Overall it took me approximately 3 1/2 hours to dig the hole and pour the concrete and another 1 1/2 - 2 hours to install the system after the concrete cured for 96 hours. Once I started to play on it I was very impressed by the stability of the system. This will provide numerous hours of enjoyment for many years to come for myself and my son. This product is definitely a great value. A very satisfied customer.. September 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The_Philosopher Don't be skeptical! I wanted to write this review (which I never do) because I (like you) went back and forth through all the reviews on this goal...I just bought a new home and it has a 3 car driveway, so I knew I wanted to purchase a goal that would fit within my budget and would be a durable hoop that would react normal when shooting 3 pointers and give solid rebound reactions. I will admit that I was a bit concerned by the recent reviews in 2014 that this goal was wobbly and customers didn't like it, but the reviews in 2013 seemed to be all satisfied. I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet on this goal vs. spending the extra 700 - 1,000 dollars on the Goalrilla....Since I work 7-5 I knew that finding the time and patience after work to pour the concrete and worry about getting people over to help set it up would be a pain in the butt, so I decided to hire a local contractor to install the goal for me....BEST DECISION I COULD HAVE MADE! I bought the goal on Sunday and was playing on it by Thursday after work and they did a fantastic job and it was well worth the extra $$ for the professional install. My goal hardly moves at all, I had a Goalrilla growing up and this goal moves and reacts the exact same as those other high end goals! I am more than pleased with this product and you absolutely can't beat the quality for the price! Do yourself a favor, quit contemplating about getting the higher end goal and save some big cash and hire a professional to install it for the money your saving and since your saving some money buy a NBA regulation net too! I promise you will be pleased. August 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Iowakaz Unbelieveable Customer Service I have never worked with a company with better customer service. We had a problem with a weld which was missed on the net hangers. It was obvious it was manufacturing miss as the rim was painted where the weld should have been. I snapped a couple of pictures and emailed my information. They responded quickly with and email and shipped a new rim. The new one was perfect and we can continue playing some hoops. July 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sean Great for the price! Bought it to shoot hoops with the kids...not to make the NBA draft. LOL It does wobble a bit but nowhere near the amount that my old portable hoop did. It was easy to assemble and install if you follow the instructions. If you want a relatively inexpensive glass backboard then it is a great unit...if you want a sturdier and more solid unit then buy one with a 6"x6" single pole and pay the extra $600+. You often get what you pay for, but I think at this price you get more. *** If you want a Mercedes then pay for it, if not then please don't act surprised when your Chevrolet is not as nice *** June 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hawkeye Nice System First, I have to say the staff at Dick's was AWESOME! They were very informative and really knowledgable on their products. It was a great shopping experience. The installation of this unit, while labor intestive, was REALLY easy. These are the best written, easiest to follow instructions I've ever worked with. EVERY piece of hardware comes sealed on a piece of cardboard and is very clearly labeled. The unit itself is well constructed of quality material. I'm satisfied with that. Other reviews really hammer this unit for being wobbly. Does it shake? Yes. Is it distracting? No. Is this a great value for the money? Absolutely! All other brands, you need to drop at least $1000 to get a 54" GLASS backboard. At $599 this was a real bargain. If you want one that does not move you will need a one piece pole OR perhaps modify the installation of this unit to include pouring the pole full of concrete. Overall. GREAT buy! June 9, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bud31 This product is not for anyone who actually knows how to play basketball. It cannot withstand dunks, and the little bit of wobble at the beginning turns into a pole that will not stand up straight. The two piece pole is a bad idea if the hoop is going to get any continual use. It is much better to spend the extra money on a hoop that has a single pole construction. Even the cheaper portable hoop I had was significantly better than this product. June 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Tournament Baller and Dad A True Perspective 1st....this is a true investment, so it's understandable if people complain about the wobble. Is there one....sure, but not to the point that I'm going to take it back. As for dunking....My friend is 6'5 and the very 1st thing I wanted to see was the dunking resiliency. At 10', with the hoop being at the highest flex point due to physics...the hoop performed very well. Do yourself a favor....look at the total construction (this is what I did). I took a ball and threw against the backboard in the store to hear the sound it makes and to see the wobble. Goalrilla sounded and looked way more solid. 2 reasons....the patented construction of how the arms surround the backboard (instead of in the center) and the 1 piece solid pole that is 5.5" squared (instead of a 2 piece post at 4" squared). That's why Goalrilla hoops cost 2x the amount. If my budget would've allowed me to get a Goalrilla hoop, I would have........BUT....I knew that this hoop was going to do this before I bought it and I still bought it. Why? It does exactly what I want. A great product that wobbles and sways a little bit (heavy backboard/slim arm base/4"post) that doesn't affect my shot. The function of the product is great. Most of all.....It's half the price of a Goalrilla hoop. Totally awesome for the price. Out of pure respect to both companies....If you want a pristine product that doesn't sway at all, wobble at all and it can withstand a beating of high flying dunks. Get a Goalsetter or Spalding basketball system worth $2600 . If you want a upper mid level hoop that can withstand the dunking but still wobbles. Get a Goalrilla. $1100 If you want a middle of the road hoop that does everything the others do. It does wobble a little and sways in strong winds due to the construction, but absolutely great for family use. Get a Goaliath. $500 Always remember. You get what you pay for. If it's cheaper than the others, it's for a reason. Do your homework. June 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Zman Great Goal!! We were looking for a good goal that was inground and this looked like a pretty good investment. We bought it at Dick's in december and had to install it in April because of weather but it was worth the wait! It wobbles a little but it's not a huge issue. At the end of the day This was a great purchase. May 28, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Hawk down Don't buy. Wobbles. Very nice looking, but is cheap. It wobbles like crazy. Should have bought the Gorilla with the 5.5 inch post. Much sturdier. I may try to fill the post with grout to try to solidify it. Total bummer. May 27, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by coachD Wobbly hoop Disappointed. Too wobbly on both makes and misses. Feeling very misled. May 25, 2014
