Great Jacket Lightweight, great fit, stay warm jacket. Was looking for something other than fleece. December 10, 2014
A Very Nice Jacket I wanted a lightweight down sweater to take on backpacking trips. I was looking at three jackets: this Marmont, the REI Co-op, and the Patagonia. Both the Co-op and the Patagonia are lighter in weight than this one. The Co-op had less down fil, the Patagonia had more down fil. The Co-op was the cheapest of the three. The Patagonia was the most expensive. Therefore, this Marmont was sort of the middle of the road. I decided to go with the Marmont for two reasons. First, I really loved the rust colored jacket. It wasn't as bright or flashy as the other two of similar colors. And second, when I put my hands in the pockets of Marmont I found tiny draw string cords that allow me to tightened up the bottom of the jacket by pulling on them. This is a lightweight jacket. However, it is not an ultra lightweight jacket. It weighs in at exactly 16 oz. The other two are slightly lighter. But, as I said, I prefered the color of this one, and it had more down insulation than the Co-op. I've taken it on a backpacking trip. It served me nicely into temps at around 30-40 degrees. You can't take the jacket much below that without other layers. However, if you added multiple layers, this jacket would serve nicely at lower temps. I've lost a few down feathers. That it is to be expected. All down jackets will lose a few. However, keep an eye on your seams. If they start to tear you will need to have it repaired. Also, this jacket is light enough to tear, so be careful where you wear it. If you're looking for a nice down sweater for the Spring and Fall, or something to add to your winter layers, this sweater may be right for you! December 10, 2014
Love & Warmth Fun bright color. Great fit & total warmth! Ready for the Chicago winter!!! December 6, 2014
Best coat Super warm and super lightweight. I really like this coat. I was between XL and XXL, and the XXL fits perfectly. December 5, 2014
Super warm if active. This is probably the best mid layer jacket I have ever owned. I have had plenty of fancy synthetic jackets, including one Primaloft puffy. The down outperforms them all by a long shot. The verdict is still out on the "Downproofing" but the inside of the jacket did get fairly sweaty the first time I snowboarded in it, after removing my shell and leaving the Marmot unzipped for a few minutes, it was dry again. On a 30 degree day, the Marmot jacket was all I needed snowboarding. I ditched my shell about four runs into the day. One thing to note: If I am trying to stay warm in an inactive state, this jacket is only good down to about 45 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're looking for a no fire, winter camp jacket this isn't for you. I'm not incredibly impressed with the water repellency of the ripstop shell, but because its a down jacket I'm not removing a star for that. I'm not sure where everyone is getting that it runs small. I typically wear a large or extra large jacket and with this one. The large is slightly bigger than I need and the medium is a little too small in the shoulders. I'm 6'0" and 210lbs. December 3, 2014
Great Jacket and Style Just ordered online here in Naperville, IL and had to go to store and pick up. Once I got there I wanted to see the fit between a Large and X-Large. The large was a litle tight in chest and shoulders, so I went with the XL. I am 5'11 and 215 lbs. Overall very nice fit and warm, as it is in the 20's today. I would definitely recommend.
