Kijaro Versa Shade Canopy 3.3 5 8 8
Great Product for Desert Camping We bought the Kijaro Versa Shade Canopy for a 2-week camping trip with 4 adults in Arches National Park in late August, and it was one of the best pieces of camping gear any of us have ever used. It was easy to set up and break down. The visual instructions were clear, and we set it up in almost all configurations, including as a gear cover. Generally we set it up in the "Cookout" position, and all 4 of us were able to sit under it comfortably in our camping chairs, at high noon, with enough room for a couple of small camping side tables. We set it up so that the open end sheltered the end of the picnic table, so we could stand under the Kijaro and cook even when it was raining. It sheltered us from the intense summer sun, strong winds, and some fairly heavy rain. We were initially concerned about the wind. The Devil's Kitchen Campground in Arches is located on a high narrow ridge at about 5,000 ft. in elevation, with the La Sal Mountains just a few miles away, and the wind can be *fierce* in the campground, especially during the summer monsoon thunderstorms. We just sat under our Kijaro and watched the poles bounce up and down off the ground an inch or two, but that was it. It never blew down, and it never collapsed in bad weather. The tops of the poles have a corkscrew curve so the shelter can't pop up off the poles in the wind, which is a brilliant design detail. The only issue we had was that we had to apply some seam seal to a couple of places in the stitching around the roof vents because they dripped a little the first time it rained. We could not be more pleased with this product, and I recommend it highly. We will definitely take it on our next trip to the desert! January 11, 2015
Kijaro Versa - what is the contraption? I purchased the Kijaro Versa Shade and cannot figure out for the life of me how to use it. Although it's portable, it is very confusing as to how to set up (even when viewing on You Tube) and there are far too many parts to put together. I am taking it back to the store fore a refund. I have not used it. It has simply sat at home in the carrier. I recommend that instructions of some type be put in w/ this item or that a sales person at the store shows people the general gist of how to put it together. August 19, 2014
Not for the beach Horrible for a beach. Kept blowing away and had to be re-secured over and over. July 29, 2014
Ok We used it at the beach and even though it was windy it did ok. When we were breaking it down to go home one of the ends came off inside the slot that you put the pole into July 2, 2014
product looks great but missing some parts The versa shade was highly recommended to me by members of my training division as a versatile light weight and transportable shade/canopy. Reviews on line support their recommendation so I purchased. Unfortunately excited to try our the product upon arrival but once constructed (which was very easu), noticed I didn't have the two shock corded metal support poles and two bungee cords with hooks. These items are described in the enclosed instructions as part of the equipment package but not contained in the any of the shipping packing containing the carry case. Presently I can lean the versa shade up against a wall car hatch back or rock face, but no poles or bungee cords to secure the shade in manner described in the instructions. Pls advise how I can obtain missing components or return instructions for another fully equiped Versa Shade. March 21, 2014
On a boat I had been looking for some type of cover that would provide shade and prevent dew from getting the cockpit area of my boat wet when we camp out. I found the Versa Shade and it fits great. I can set up the Versa Shade alone while in the boat with a breeze. I love this product. Just wish it came in Red. September 10, 2013
Not the versatility I was needing for my camping locations. This is an okay product for backpacking in places where you can tie off or somehow anchor it securely. I like to camp in areas (desert & beach) where wind can kick up and not have a place to tie off to. The tiny little stakes provided, combined with the span of the canopy, are not functional. I do not think the value for the cost of $99.99 is there. I immediately returned mine. If it was a more reasonable price for what you get, i.e. $49.99, I may have kept it as a back up on short trips into the mountains. Takes a little time to set up, would be challenging for only 1 person in the slightest breeze. May 22, 2013
Great Product - Well designed and made. Great Product. Bought this for use with sports activites and camping. This product is made well with good materials and workmanship. Main poles are steel with steel cables inside, instead of the normal shock cord. Easy to set up with one or two people in just a few minutes. A great alternative to a standard pop-up. May 7, 2013
