Rated 5 out of 5 by KYPrepper 4-1 Tool, Good deal.
Great bang for the buck. All 4 tools are great in their own right, and when brought together they make one heck of a outdoorsman's companion.

I had bought this for a short camping trip with a couple of hikes in mind. The whistle worked, and the compass seemed accurate as well as the thermometer. I knew that we were going to be on well marked, short trails, so having this was just a little assurance (just in case). It was just really fun to carry around.

This convient 4 in one tool is extremely convenient when hiking, driving, biking, or just about any time! It is great because it can be clipped on your keys or worn around your neck! Awesome product!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by PappyHiker Good teaching tool
I bought this mainly for my grandson to teach him how to use a compass (orienting). a whistle as an emergency communication device, and how to start a fire with a magnifying glass. It is nice to have all three of the tools for doing so in one neat little package. Plus it does have a thermometer. And while the compass and thermometer aren't the most accurate, you're at least in the ball park. The magnifying glass could be of better magnification too. Oh, and the whistle, well its really not too loud either, but it works okay. I consider this only a learning tool, nothing more. I wouldn't recommend it as ones main camping/hiking/survival tool. Its better than nothing though. It could serve as a back up too. The durability? Hmmm, I wouldn't consider it for serious use, but for a casual walk through the park or around town, or in the glove box of a car it should give you years of good service, maybe.
But its a nice little tool, I don't regret buying it at all. In fact, for the price I may just pick up another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mamma Kim Get one for each kid
I really like this thing. I bought it for my 3 year old for his first ever camping trip with his dad. It's not really a toy, but it's very durable and nothing on it is dangerous. My husband loved the compass. It works very well and they had fun with it. My son is only 3, but he got the idea of direction and started to consider his location in relation to his environment. Also, the compass is great on the kayak when there few landmarks to orient you. It's totally waterproof so we just attached it to his life vest. The magnifying glass is small, but he had fun using it to look at all the "cool bugs" he found. We didn't really use the thermometer yet, but it's there and good to have. As for the whistle, we made it abundantly clear that it is for emergency use only. If he gets lost or he needs help, he can just blow the whistle and someone will find him. We told him it's important not to blow it when it's not needed. It was really only a problem when another kid thought the whistle was cool and he kept blowing it. It's a whistle, so obviously, it's annoying. Also, it's not too cool to have kids blowing their spit into the same whistle. Really, it's just an awesome little thing, and for the price you should get one for each kid. They'll have fun with it, and maybe even learn a thing or two.

Got these for the kids and they work great - none of them got lost.
Be warned, however, once your kids discover the whistle feature...
