Rated 5 out of 5áby Positive Longevity Review My husband and I purchased the Sole F85 Treadmill from Dick's in 2005. It was our Christmas present. We are both retired and wanted to have a dependable indoor way to exercise. I am happy to report that we have never had a bit of trouble with this excellent piece of equipment. It is quiet and easy to use. We use it with the TV on, or reading a book. The fan is a nice addition and yes, it is directional. The only maintenance that we have done over the years is to take care of lubricating the machine with the lubricant recommended by the manufacturer. The machine prompts you when this is necessary. The Sole 85 is a big purchase, but it has been worry free for us. I feel like my research paid off. October 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby Very happy with the performance of my F85 Sole treadmill Love the features and how quite it is while working out. Now the the next test which is "the test of longevity without any issues" October 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby As Good As Advertised I never write reviews , but I am making an exception for this machine because I'm thrilled with it. It is SUPER Quiet, Plenty of different workouts available, speed controls from 1/2 mph too 15 mph in 1/10 increments. Incline works great. The Hydraulic release to lower the tread down to the ground works incredible, you literally don't have to hold the tread at all. Someone mentioned you have to be 7' tall to utilize the fans , but they must not have realized there are directional buttons to raise the fans up and down. I've run on many treadmills and this one equals any of the commercial ones in the Gyms if not better. LED screen is very well lit, visible, and user friendly . Once assembled this machine is very easy to move, but you will need about 3 or 4 guys to get it in your house initially , which just about everyone mentions in their reviews. Took one hour to assemble. I am in shape already but bought this machine to help battle the hi cholesterol that runs in our family, I highly recommend this machine for whatever your needs may be. Rated 4 out of 5áby Solid treadmill! The hardest part about the installation was carrying it down to the basement, which required two very strong men. Installation was easy, except for the last couple of screws that were hard to put in. For the next treadmill, I am having it professionally removed and installed because it was just too heavy and cumbersome. I've only used the treadmill for a week but I love using it. It's smooth, powerful, and feels like a fancy club treadmill. My only reservations: - Display console is a bit too tall for me (I'm 5'0" tall) so we had to make the TV in the basement a bit higher to accommodate the treadmill - It's easy to step on the panel in front of the moving deck if you are too close to the console. - Directions are confusing when it comes to the names of parts and where lube needs to be applied. Otherwise it's a great treadmill and I really enjoy using it. I suggest a very heavy duty mat to put underneath it. The SuperMats super solid tread mat 7.5 feet x 3 feet was a perfect fit and very heavy duty for such a heavy treadmill. Also, our basement ceiling is low so I can only use it easily, not my 6' tall husband. He can still walk on it, but he has to be careful not to bounce and hit the ceiling. May 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby nice treadmill This is the 2nd F85. We use and abuse our treadmills. The 1st one lasted 3 years. Very pleased with this. Maintenance is a must! May 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby Excellent Product / Purchasing Experience You will not find a better treadmill at this price, period. There is a lot of information online that confirms this statement. Sole builds this like a tank. The packaging of the treadmill is excellent, unlike a lot of equipment I have delivered professionally or received personally. Unfortunately, after the easy assembly, I could hear a squeaking sound coming from the deck. I lubricated several pivot points, but was unable to stop the small noise. Sole's response was great but I did not feel like I should have new equipment serviced. I contacted the Dick's ( Domain Crossing - Austin,Tx ) .They replaced it with another, new in the box. TRY to do that somewhere else. Customer service at Dick's was outstanding. The store agreed that I should not hear ANY sound coming from the deck. This one is as quiet as expected. My rare (picky honestly) experience would not prevent me from buying another Sole product. Dick's stood behind the sale. May 9, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby Quality Machine, Not as Quiet as Advertised, Some Design Flaws, BUT ALL AROUND GOOD. I have had my eye on a treadmill for 3 years now. I fell in love with the machine on the whole during my gym membership at the YMCA but after travel, wear and tear on the vehicle, and time devoted to the membership, we decided that a piece of exercise equipment in the home may be the answer for home bodies like ourselves. Let me say first off that a treadmill sitting in your living room is highly addictive; makes you question that soda, or not have that extra cookie, especially when the treadmill is just sitting there, staring at you. For this reason, DON'T tuck this piece away in your less traveled areas, DISPLAY this item front and center in your home, and make it a priority. Now for the pros and cons. Pros: 1. The running board is a GREAT width. I am 6 foot tall and 280 pounds and it sustains me nicely and could handle a bigger person with ease. I say that this width of running board is great because there are a few out there with wider boards but I feel like unless you are special needs or in a position of morbid obesity, the wide board is probably not for you, because if this board were any wider, it would be cumbersome. 2. The display board is excellent, the buttons are easy to maneuver, and there is ample space for your water and your electronics. 3. The monitor band that is included is accurate and comfortable. 4. The structure is definitely SOLID, there is NO play or wiggle on this piece. 5. Assembly was relatively easy if I do say so myself. 6. I must say I was truly surprised at how nice the sound system was on this piece. 7. Using accuracy checks, the calorie count is SPOT ON if you input your personal information when you program your user 1 and user 2. Cons: 1. There is a design flaw in the decorative plastic piece at the head of the running board and your feet CONSTANTLY hit this. It could very well be the most aggravating aspect of this treadmill. 2. The tray that sits below the main circuit board is ridiculously useless. There is no accessing it during a workout so unless you are setting things there before or after, don't expect to be able to ACCESS it during a run/walk. 3. I understand that there is some "whisper board' technology but I don't agree; I have to double the volume on my television in order to hear it over the board, because there is always a rubbing sound on the board. 4. The item weighs 400 pounds and when they say "free shipping" this is CURBSIDE which means you have to get it into your home and up or down your stairs. Thank GOD I was merely putting it inside my front door. 5. The fan is LAUGHABLE. That shouldn't even be considered a fan unless you are 7' tall, because at 6' tall it does NOT blow in my face. 8. The only thing more laughable than the fan is the so called "fold up feature" This fold up feature does NOT create some space saving solution, it looks like a hot mess when you try to fold it up and it is by NO means convenient. All in all, was it worth the purchase? MOST definitely. Sole has the best warranty in the industry, the instructions were easy to read, and in the long run, this item will be worth its weight in gold. I DID go for the 4 year protection that Dick's offers and I would recommend that as well to anyone who is putting nearly $2000 into a treadmill. I did a lot of research with treadmill repair companies and they estimated that the warranty will pay for itself as MOST people have at least ONE repair out of warranty, and with parts costing hundreds of dollars, spend the money on the front so you aren't aggravated on the back. Rated 5 out of 5áby Clydesdale on a treadmill! With over 70 inches of snow in New England I began researching treadmills. I weigh in at 230lbs and run 2-3 half marathons a year so I was looking for a treadmill that could handle my weight, pace and frequent use. I looked at many treadmills and the sole treadmills continued to pop up at the top of each list in terms of quality and reliability. When we hit 90 inches of snow I opted for the f85 over the f80 primarily because of the larger motor. The f85 has the same size motor as the treadmills I was using at the gym. I have had the treadmill for one month and have logged 80 miles on it. It seems very sturdy, the motor is able to transition up or down speeds with out a problem. At 0 incline the treadmill is actually close to 1% incline. This simulates similar effort to running on the road which I prefer anyway. There are very few frills with this treadmill. The only two things I wish the f85 had was an 8 mph button and the ability to move incline by .5. Other than that I love the treadmill. I did not realize how big and heavy the treadmill was until the box was brought to the front of the store. The associates put the box into the back of my pickup truck and I was off. With 8 inches of snow on the way I need to get the treadmill into my basement. I managed to get the box into my house and set up the treadmill in about 2 hours. The most difficult part of the set up was getting the box into the house. I would not recommend paying the extra delivery fee if you have a truck but I would recommend having a couple of friends available to help bring the box to where it needs to be set up. Summary -sturdy deck -strong motor -no frills -heavy box March 1, 2015
