Rated 4 out of 5 by A quality product overall Pro: Solidly builtPro: fits 2006 OdysseyPro: color and styling were good for silver vanCon: instructions don't tell you that the racks are pre-locked, so when you try to loosen them to install on the factory racks on top of the van, they just spin in circles. I just happened to think being locked was the problem and it was. Why this seemed strange was typically when things are locked, they don't move.Con: I bought the Malone j hooks to put the two kayaks on. I bought the same brand, to ensure they would work together. We've never done this before, but it seemed like the j hooks bowed in when the kayaks were tied down. They held well, but it just felt like the cross rails were too wide for a good fit for the j hooks. If anyone has any suggestions, please comment. July 15, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy. Secure. Good value... but a note on size. This was my first-time cross bar purchase for a 2010 Jeep Patriot w standard side-rails. It comes with rubber spacers if your rails are too close to the roof of your car (like my Jeep). Easy on, easy off... no tools required. Is less expensive and probably higher quality than anything the dealership, Thule or Yakima sells. Bought these in conjunction with the Malone StaxPro 2 kayak stacker. one side of the bars come with a lock to deter any creeps out there that want to steal your stuff... but it's very easy and fast to just take them off and stow them in your car while you're off doing your thing. OK... now for the problem: Size. I bought the smallest for my Jeep. Which works just fine. (I think the smallest is 50"... the jeep's rails are about 43" apart, but they adjust fine for my Jeep)... BUT..... These will NOT fit on the side rails for a 2007 Ford Focus Station wagon... side rails about 33" apart. Ain't no way it would work... which upsets my daughter because she: has a 2007 Ford Focus Station Wagon. Unless there's some magic way to make it work that I'm unaware of, you won't be able to use this product. I would hope that in the product description, there would be something that indicates the space across that these things can reach. Overall, if you have a car that is wide enough, GREAT value.
