Buy these and don't look back!!!!!! These are absolutely awesome!!!! I can see a lot later in the evening and earlier in the morning. I was blown away with how clear they are. The covers on the small lenses are weird( I laughed at them when I took them out of the box) but once I put them on the neck strap, I really like them. November 3, 2014
this product is a great product the clarity of lenses are amazing. the weight of binoculars are perfect. i can see far with them. i normally wear eye glasses, but i don't need them when i use them. i'm glad i bought them, and the price was decent April 17, 2014
outstanding product with outstanding features I wanted binoculars with extreme clarity and distance. After buying two other pair and not being pleased and wasting money I was on the hunt for a pair of finely crafted Binoculars and hoped I could find a pair that wouldn't break the bank. This finely crafted pair of Nikon monarch 5 10x42 filled the bill 100%. I'm thrilled to find such high quality at an affordable price . March 19, 2014
Take them everywhere! Light and easy to handle, these binoculars are great for everything but especially "birding". February 18, 2014
Excellent Value Binoculars I spend a lot of time using binoculars and the Monarch 5 are some of the best around for the money. I had a set of Monarch 3 and Santa brought the Monarch 5 for my wife. The Monarch 5s seem to be just a bit better in low light but otherwise I can't tell the difference and so the review is based on several years of experience with the Monarch 3 and 2 weeks in Costa Rica with the Monarch 5. I like them because they are relatively small and light (not a compact set, however). They easily fit in a fanny pack when I am hunting and are also comfortable to carry around all day birding in rough terrain. They can focus on very close objects which makes them great for looking at butterflies, humming birds, frogs, lizards... I can work the focus with one hand which is nice since I usually have a bird book or a rifle in the other. They also fit our 7 year old aspiring naturalist and he can focus them easily. They have very good optics and provide good performance in low light conditions (no, they do not match the quality of Zeiss/Swarovski but they also don't cost over $1K). We took them on a 2 week trip to Costa Rica and they performed beyond our expectations. We have (accidentally) verified that they are waterproof and my Monarch 3s have taken several small tumbles off the tailgate, out of the backpack... and have held up well. If I lost these today, I would buy another set on my way home from work! PS: Our guide in Costa Rica had a older set of Monarch 3s January 16, 2014
