Nike VR_S X Irons - (Steel) 4-AW 4.6 5 37 37
Very good irons. The heavier club head has already impacted my swing speed positively. Have tried them at the range so far. Have added at least 10 yards of distance over my old clubs. Off centre hits does not jar my hands. Clubs feel real good. Even helped in shaping shots. Looking forward to next season as it is winter here. Will recommend any day. December 8, 2014
Great iron set for mid-handicappers, and a great price to boot I bought this set about 3 months ago. Couldn't be happier. Played an old set of Wilson cavity backs for a number of years, and a set of Cleveland CB4's for a while after that. I haven't found these clubs to be any more or less forgiving on off-center hits, but I did notice a distance increase of 4-8 yards, due to the lower loft. What I love about these clubs is that they do a GREAT job of getting the ball in the air compared to other irons, and I rarely roll an approach shot through the green anymore. I hit TaylorMade, Cleveland, Callaway, and Ping irons along with this set on the monitor at the local Dick's, about 40 shots with each brand 7-iron. 36 of my 39 swings with this set reached a peak height of 30 yards or higher. First 8-iron I hit on the course, from 153 yards, stopped within 3 feet of the ball mark. A little tougher to keep the long irons to hold, but still much better than any other long iron or hybrid I've hit. Based on the lower lofts, as mentioned in an earlier review, the Approach Wedge is 48 degrees, so you'll need at least one wedge to round out your bag (I went with a 54 and a 58, for example). An extra gap wedge is a must for nearly any iron set you buy nowadays, but with this set I would suggest you get two. Long irons in this set are an option off the tee, as well. I haven't hit a driver or fairway wood the last 3 rounds I've played because these clubs are pretty straight and I can get the 4 iron out there around 240. Not coincidentally, I played all 3 rounds with the same ball. Bottom line, if you're struggling with your approach game, give these a look, I don't think you'll be disappointed. October 7, 2014
Great game improvement clubs I will preface this review with, these clubs won't make a bad swing good or turn bad contact into a good shot. However I upgraded to these from a basic complete set of wilson clubs and there is a marked difference in my play. I personally have noticed better distance and contact on slight off center hits (not miss hits) and distance is 10-15 yards better than a cheaper set of irons. I was hitting my 7 about 145-155 and now it's closer to 160-170. The best part about these clubs though, the launch. These irons launch very easily getting the ball up higher on every shot. Where I noticed this most was on my 8-A irons. I was already able to get descent backspin but these clubs have helped me really "stick" my shot. One time out and I am already sitting the ball down within a foot of my divots. These irons have added some confidence to my game and I would highly recommend them to an intermediate golfer looking to improve their score. 27 yr old male 90's golfer September 8, 2014
Great clubs, and price. Very forgiving clubs,I added about ten yards of distance with every iron. September 1, 2014
Very good easy to hit irons! I just started playing golf about a year ago- I started with an older Titleist set that was fairly hard to hit. They were fairly shift staff and the sweet spot was tiny. Realizing that I need some forgiveness I tested out a few iron sets at Dick's and found that I really liked these. The flex was nicely in between a stiff and regular shaft for me- which is helping the transition to something more my skill level. I shoot in the high 80's/low 90's for now (hoping to get better!) But after playing a round with these and being at the range, I've found these are pretty smooth. Smooth to swing, I like the weight and smooth on contact, way less buzz when I miss-hit. And the miss-hits are not too bad. They go much further than my older clubs with the same miss-hits. I would recommend these for any beginners/intermediate players. The only negative is that the heads are a little wide (fat? not sure what the right word is for that) compared to my old irons which were much thinner. I know this helps me hit them easier, but its just a little odd at address for me. I will get used to this though, I'm sure of that. (Also, what a steal at around $300!) August 31, 2014
Just Good !!!!!!! I've been golfing for many years, started with junk set, went to my sons better set of hand me downs, now after some 30 years of just enjoying golf and learning how to play & swing. I splurged an got this set for myself, BEST move I ever made, I have played 5 rounds so far, my score has dropped 8 strokes without playing any different than before. Just love the loft and everything about them !!!!!!!! August 26, 2014
Great Set of Irons Moved up from a set of starter clubs and this set really is a bang for the buck. They are sold out in stores, bought the display still wrapped up!! Look Great too August 24, 2014
Great PRICE, AWESOME clubs! I just got this set 2 weeks ago and already dropped my score by 8. I bought a cheap $150 set 2 years ago when I first picked up the game. I did well with those clubs with an average score between 90-95. Did a couple of rounds and I've been getting to the green with less strokes and more accuracy. It just feels better. I know they're pitched different but if you don't have good mechanics and a consistent swing, these won't improve your game. Get good with your current set then look to upgrade. August 8, 2014
Best Bang For Your Buck I upgraded to these clubs about two months ago and did not want to write a review until I played at least 50 holes or more with them. First of all, the Nike VRS Iron Set is not more "forgiving" than any other clubs out there. If you have bad mechanics with an off brand club, then your swing won't magically become better because you upgraded to a Nike set. Keeping that in mind, as a recreational golfer, I believe these clubs offer a visually attractive, and well made set of clubs for $300 when compared to other major brands. I have used many different brands of clubs such as Taylor Made, Callaway, Ping, Cobra #which I absolutely hate# and obviously Nike. I must admit that my shots with these clubs were consistent and comparable to any of the major brands at almost half the cost. July 31, 2014
Big Difference Upgraded from a generic set of irons to these - it was amazing the difference. The weighting of the clubs felt great and I was surprised with the added length. Good set of irons July 31, 2014
