Rated 5 out of 5 by Great starting rod Very sturdy rod and is great for beginners. Having gotten the 7' MH rod, we were surprised that it was extremely light. August 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ugly Stik, Beautiful Rod This is my first fishing pole. I purchased this due to reviews on the reliability and sensitivity. I have since used my pole trolling, casting/spinning from a boat, and casting from a shore. I have taken everything from 1/4lb blue gill all the way up to a 6lb catfish. All of these have been on a Shimano 4000 spinning reel, 10lb mono line. Using this setup, I have cast everything from pan fish lures by their lonesome, and all the way up to a 1/2lb whole blue gill fish (just to see how it would hold up), which it did fabulously. Seems that no matter what I throw at/with this rod, it holds just great. The balance is really nice, and the sensitivity is awesome. I know I don't have much experience, but when you can feel a 1/2lb blue gill nibbling on the line, can't ask for much better. Reeling in the catfish is great as well. There is enough give to make it feel like a great huge fish, but has plenty of spine to keep it stiff where you need it. I plan on purchasing more of these rods for other rigs, but really, I think I found something that runs a huge gammon of range, and nothing needs changed. Other than keeping a spare spool or two to change up the line, I don't think I need to change the rod... July 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bang for buget My in-law and i went delta fishing for stripers, he was using the gx2 and i was using my wright & mcgill. So i ask him if i can switch rods for a bit. It cast well and had back bone for days for a buget rod. I like the rod very much , I highly recommend for beginners who need a buget rod. Im thinking of getting two for my two penn firece 4000 and 5000 reels that just sitting in my gear box , it would make a killer setup combo for all freshwater fishing. September 9, 2015
