I bought the 6'6" 2 piece to match an Okuma Avenger Baitfeeder. Firstly the rod pictured doesn't resemble the aforementioned one or any of the other models I've looked at. Secondly the reel seat does not hold any of my reels tightly enough and thus causes slippage. The backbone and sensitivity are decent but not any different than the original Uglys. The new eyes are more sturdy but that's the only difference besides the color. My friend has to pull so hard to set the hook he sometimes hits me in the head. He does like this rod so to each his own. I only will use Bigwater Uglys because of the better quality reel seats and backbone. If you already own an Ugly Stik then stay with it because the upgrades don't warrant the $10 increase. I will be returning this rod asap.

Fantastic rod. Great casting and the action is awesome. Put a Shimano Sahara reel on it with 12lb braid. Very pleased and would recommend to anyone. Great rod for a great price

I highly recommend an ugly stick in your collection of fishing tackle. I've been a dedicated user for over 15 years and have not had a single problem with any of my 6 ugly sticks.

I've use my Ugly Stick rod for surf fishing the Oxnard shore. I have no problem casting my bait to where the fish are. It has held up well to the surf environment. There is no corrosion on the metal parts.
This Shakespeare Ugly Stick GX-2 two-piece rod is my second Ugly Stick. I use a 6' rod for freshwater fishing. Both rods do a good job telegraphing a fish nibbling on bait. It is easy to set the hook and it is fun reeling in fish with both my Shakespeare rods.
Based on experience, I recommend Shakespeare rods for quality, durability, and value.
