Rated 5 out of 5 by Go to bat for my 7 y/o Bought this bat (28" 16oz.) for my 7 y/o in the spring just to get him through the return process on his Easton S2 ($200) factory defective bat. Well he ended up loving it. It does have a different sound compared to aluminum barrels. My son is 51" tall and approx. 56lbs, he consistently drives the ball to the 150'-170' mark (210' to the fence). He has used it for the past 5 months, for the past three he has hit approx. 300-350 balls per week and the bat is still going strong. To the point we bought another only because the end is becoming worn from him hitting the plate in practice. This bat has become so popular with his friends that two have bought one of their own. In reading the other reviews I have read I must say that any bat will sting if your grip is poor or you don't hit the ball well, my son has never said this bat stings. In closing hits do give a thud sound but it drives the ball comparable to my sons aluminum barrel bat and for .35$ on the dollar of our S2. August 18, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Need to break it in I read the reviews and noticed many people mentioned the bat being dead or no pop. This issue is because unlike alloy bats composite bats need broken in. Before using this bat in play it needs to be broken in. Around 100 times of contact at 50 % swing off a tee or soft toss. Then 50 times of contact at 100 % swing off a tee or soft toss. Try periodically rotating the bat 1/4 for an even breakin. One more tip. Do not use this bat at batting cages that use rubber balls. Rubber balls are more dense and will damage bat. August 18, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by You get what you pay for I had high hopes for this composite bat...but no pop at all out of the wrapper and not a lot more now that it's broken in. My 8 year old went back to his old bat. June 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great bang for your buck I purchased this bat for my 6 year old son he will be 7 in a few months in the 28in -12 16oz (he is big for his age so you might have to get a lighter one) as an upgrade to his Easton speed brigade 27in -13 15oz. The sweet spot on this bat is great he has been making contact every single at bat. It has great pop. All of his hits are going further at higher velocity. No problem with sting at all (this will only happen if it's hit on the inside) I also added a lizard skin because the wrap it comes with is very thin. Overall I'm completely satisfied this bat is a great value, as mentioned I have never seen a full composite bat go for less that $70. I would recommend this bat as a starter composite bat May 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great bat for the money! I coach my son's 8-year old little league team. I'm not going to say anything like "with this bat my kid hits it into the outfield all the time" because I believe that is primarily a function of hitting mechanics, age, and using the appropriate bat #length and drop# for the hitter. The great thing about this bat is its drop of 12. The lightweight design makes it perfect for kids that don't yet have the strength to get a -11 or -10 drop through the zone with speed #i.e., most 8 year olds#. Through one season, the bat has been durable #no dents, etc.#. As the season progressed, this became the bat of choice for most of the kids on my team. For the money, you can't go wrong. The sting can be bad on this bat--but I say "can be" because sting is caused by contact outside of the sweet spot. Although there was one time that the sting produced tears, the silver lining is that my son was very cognizant of the importance of hitting the ball properly on the sweet spot after a season of using the bat #what doesn't kill us makes us stronger:#. Rated 2 out of 5 by A 1-Season Bat I bought this for my 10-year-old to use in Little League. The bat lasted for a short Fall Ball season and 2/3 of a Spring season before it went dead. On the bright side, it wasn't expensive, and he broke it hitting a grand slam. August 28, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Vibrates so bad my son won't use it Knowing nothing about the different types of bats available, we let our son pick which ever bat he wanted. Honestly, he chose this one just because it "looks cool". He hates it. He says it vibrates so bad it makes his hand hurt. He got to the point where he wasn't even trying to hit, because he didn't want it to hurt. We got vibration reducing batting gloves, still didn't help. One of the other dad's on the team clued in to what was happening and told him to try one of the team bats. It was like night and day. Once he got that first hit and realized it didn't hurt, he was hitting better instantly. Not sure why some people feel so much vibration and others don't, but I wouldn't recommend this bat to anyone. Rated 3 out of 5 by Decent for a year at most Bought this last season, worked pretty well last year. Decent pop for the price. Son started using it again this year and noticed that he wasn't getting any power out of it. I took the bat and tried hitting balls into to outfield off a tee (Pretty easy task with ANY bat including my cheap wood one) but I could barely get the ball to clear the infield. It's completely dead at this point! June 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great bat. Teach your son proper mechanics/timing and it won't hurt his hands. Good trampoline effect and great balance. My son (12) uses this in the Little League Majors Division and drives the ball well with it. May 26, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by 25 " 15 oz 2 5/8 BIG BARREL Bat for my 5 year old Everyone talks about the sting from the bat. Of coarse if you hit on the knuckles and end your going to get vibration. My 5 year old crushes the ball with this bat. He hits futher than my 9 year old with his bat. The sound when he gets the sweet spot is excellent. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BAT May 23, 2015
