Rated 5 out of 5 by puff Chameleons that don't change
I've worn Merrell Chameleons for many years and I'm happy to report that unlike their namesake...they don't change with regards to all the important stuff: fit, functionality and durability. Yes, there have been refinements and improvements through the years...but the core of this great line of outdoor shoes remains consistent. I'm on 'version 5'...and I love 'em!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sirvim Worst Merrells I've ever owned, or even tried on!
I own about 7-8 pairs of Merrills, and have worn out 2 others that are long gone! Obviously, for the most part I do like Merrill shoes! I cannot wear any of the shoes that are supposed to feel as if you're not wearing any shoes - so I had to return 2 pairs of those Merrells too.
I would not even give these shoes a half star, but the Dick?s site will not post a review without clicking on one of the stars These "Merrell Men's Chameleon 5 Waterproof Hiking Shoe" are the MOST uncomfortable hiking shoes (high or low) ever! The positive is that the toe box is excellent, there is much room in both height and width, although you still must buy 1/2 to a whole size larger than you are normally (which is usual for all Merrell shoes). Otherwise, if you enjoy wearing a thick wooden crate with concrete soles you will love these.
After wearing the shoes for 10 minutes on tile and carpeted floors my feet and ankles killed me; they were also quite warm! It would take at least 6 months to break these shoes in - IF EVER!
If Chameleon 5 wanted a new waterproof shoe, besides the Moab, they should have made the Chameleon 4 waterproof, and called that the "5"
The Bottom Line: UNCOMFORTABLY STIFF; HEAVY, HARD on the feet (even thick gel-soles wouldn't help)!
ALSO: I noticed a flyer in the shoebox stating that Merrill is now putting their name on clothing and other items. I hope that they are not spreading themselves too thin! It would be a shame if a company that has always been known for quality, and comfort began skimping, and making poor decisions as in the review above!
