Ogio 2014 Machu Cart Bag 3.7 5 3 3
Good but needs work. First let me say that the design and layout of the bag is excellent. Plenty of very usable pockets and they are all the right size as well including a huge cooler pocket perfect for sneaking drinks out onto courses where coolers are prohibited. 15 way organizer top is very spacious as well and bag is solidly built. Main 2 drawbacks for me is the zipperless ball pocket and no carry handle on the back of the bag. I know Ogio makes bags that have a normal zippered pocket for golf balls and I'm not sure why this isn't standard for all their bags. If you overload it with golf balls they will spill out when carrying the bag on your shoulder as it bounces up and down and it will lose tension. I will say this Ogio customer service is great just KEEP YOUR RECEIPT. Also I think the other reviewer has confused the Torq Strap on the back of the bag as a carry handle. It is not and I found out the hard way by dropping the bag on the floor trying to use it that way. Apparently that strap is meant for use as an extra way to secure the bag when it's on a cart. You loop it over the back bar then reattach it to the top clip. Not only is that difficult and tedious to do I can't see it serving that big of a service over a standard carry handle. Tough for me to recommend this bag over others. The Sun Mountain C130 is the gold standard of cart bags. Very well thought out design. Hope this helped. September 24, 2014
Has potential to be great ... I recently purchased the Ogio Machu cart bag after contemplating over multiple bags. I attempted to view the bag in store prior to purchase but unfortunately was unable to view the bag in person anywhere I went. I decided to purchase the bag anyways and was very pleased with the overall presence of the bag. On the other hand, there are several changes that need to be made. First the positives, the 16 way divider system is great. Plenty of pockets and storage for all items and accessories. The bag appears to be durable and well constructed. Easy to access all pockets when bag is on the cart. The negatives, zipperless ball pocket needs to be stronger. The torq handle on the back side is terrible. I find it hard to believe that a company like ogio would approve a handle with such a design. Creates a headache when loading/unloading bag in and out of the trunk of my car. Needs another ring on other side of bag for towel/accessories. First course I played, bag was almost too big to secure to the cart. Overall, I think the bag has great potential but there are several things that need to be addressed. I would have sent the bag back if I wasn't going on golf trip and wanted a cart bag for the weekend. Unfortunately I'll probably be buying another bag next season if not sooner ... April 22, 2014
Solid Bag Finally a bag with all the right things in all the right places. I am somewhat of a pack rat and probably a little OCD when it comes to my golf stuff and therefore I need not only multiple storage options but they have to be in the right place as well. The Machu finally fits the bill! I've been through several bags, the last was the Callaway Org 14x which was very good but the umbrella slot was right in line with the garment pocket and made the bag wider than it should be when I had my rain suit packed in there. It really comes down to where you like to store your golf items when you're playing. My buddy likes the cooler pocket to face forward whereas i prefer the large one on the side like the Machu and Org bags have it. The only things I don't like are the rubber handle on the back of the bag, a fixed one would be better than an adjustable one that just keeps popping off and also the zipperless ball pocket. Mainly because the more balls you pack in the less tightly it closes because of the weight. A standard zipper would be fine there as I really don't get the gimmick here. Other than that this bag really lets me store all my items perfectly and I do have a lot of items! Plenty of room with the organizer top and the oversize putter well can help accommodate those oversize putter grips perfectly. Good sturdy base and the bag feels solid. Nice work Ogio.
