Customer Reviews:

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by They've changed I've been using wave rider's since version 8. I tried the 17's and the bottom of the laces cut into my toes. I loved the mizuno wave rider's but with this version, I just can't use them. I give them 1 star only because they changed. YMMV May 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent running shoes for those with Heel issues. These are the shoes I have waited for. I used to be an avid runner for many years. Then, I developed an issue called Haglund's deformity in my heels, and it was just too painful. After much research, I discovered that these shoes should make it possible for me to run again. The design of these shoes uses a larger, and more rounded heel-cup which keeps the heel from rubbing and causing pain. I ordered a pair from Dick's, and lo and behold I am able to run again! Rated 2 out of 5 by Premature wear causes foot roll I previously used the wave rider 15 and loved them, so going to this seemed logical. These felt good for about the first 50 miles, then the right shoe wore out (feels like it compressed) along the external side of the sole, causing my foot to role externally and eventually leading to foot pain (and only 2 weeks before a half marathon). Not sure if it was a bad shoe or if this is systemic. Bummed because I really liked my 15's. April 21, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Cheap knockoff of earlier models These shoes are a weak substitute for previous Wave Rider series shoes. They are definitely light weight, but the initial "feel" of the shoe seemed sloppy compared to the glove-like fit of the Wave Rider 15 and 16 models. After a bit of use, they started wearing heavily on the outward side of the soles, causing the foot to roll over. Now the upper is starting to split because of the shift of the foot in the shoe due to the sole wear. Not the kind of performance I expect from a shoe this expensive. My first pair of Wave Riders, the model 15, withstood 6 months of running, and, after that, nearly a year of hard wear at work in a retail setting on bare concrete. Based on that performance, I swore to be a Mizuno customer for life. Based on the performance of the WR 17, I will be looking elsewhere for my next pair of shoes. Bummer, because I REALLY liked the earlier Wave Riders. February 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very comfortable! This is one of the best running shoes I have had. From the day first day, they fit good and feel great! They have not broke down any at all. February 4, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Bigger than previous editions of shoe! I have been wearing Wave Riders since 2006, same size every time. This version was at least a half size too big. Great shoe, just had to reorder smaller size. January 16, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing I ordered these shoes online after being unable to find my husband's size in my local Dick's Sporting Goods store. When we received them, there were 2 different size shoes in the box! Not only that, they were poorly packaged, no tissue or anything. We can't speak for the wear of the shoe, as one of the shoes never fit. Shoes were returned to our local Dick's and hubby bought a pair different pair of shoes in the end. January 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very efficient purchase Price was right...shipping free (which means a lot!) Product is next gen of current running shoe. Always looking for a deal! October 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by great shoes but theft-proff tag left on shoes great value for these shoes but pain to go and have the theft proof tag removed before I could wear them September 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Getting better and better Until I stumbled on the Wave Rider shoes several years ago, I'd tried anything and everything to find a comfortable ride. Fortunately, Mizuno only makes small changes (mainly cosmetic) to each new model, so if you liked the previous model you'll also like its replacement. I tend to wear out the outsides of the forefoot sole first, so the neutral Wave Rider helps mitigate that problem. This latest model seems to have beefed up the outside forefoot edges, so I'm hoping for some extra miles. Comfortwise, mine have never needed a breakin and I'm not even aware I'm wearing shoes, there are no pressure points or the sense of something rubbing. Also, these are the first shoes I've ordered from Dick's and their service was excellent and the delivered price was the best I could find on the net. Good luck. September 12, 2014
