Rated 4 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by can't deny a good thing Several years ago I tried on and tested out 8 different kinds of neutral running shoes and the wave rider won out. They are light, supportive, and fit me wonderfully. As long as Mizuno makes a wave rider I will own a pair. May 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great feel As all manufacturers change their shoes regularly sometimes they are good for you and sometimes not so good. The wave rider 17's really have a good feel with no break in time. Going to get a few pair of 17's before the next update. May 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by 2nd pair purchased comfortable running shoe on grass or pavement. well made. first pair lasted almost a year. on average, i run about 25 to 30 miles a week May 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Helps relieve Plantars Fascitis Used reebok real flex before I found this shoe which was recommended by an associate at the Dicks in princeton. She was very informative and knowledgeable. The reeboks killed my feet. I was limping when I entered the store due to the poor support the reeboks gave me. As soon as I tried on the mizunos, I could feel almost instant relief. That was almost a year ago and I can now get out of bed in the morning without feeling like my heel just stepped on a sharp rock. I'm now on my third pair and will forever swear by this shoe. I hope they don't change a thing about the shoe or stop making this shoe since they are getting harder to find. If you have flat feet like me and need a great shoe that will prevent/relieve Plantars pain....then try this shoe. May 7, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by They've changed I've been using wave rider's since version 8. I tried the 17's and the bottom of the laces cut into my toes. I loved the mizuno wave rider's but with this version, I just can't use them. I give them 1 star only because they changed. YMMV May 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent running shoes for those with Heel issues. These are the shoes I have waited for. I used to be an avid runner for many years. Then, I developed an issue called Haglund's deformity in my heels, and it was just too painful. After much research, I discovered that these shoes should make it possible for me to run again. The design of these shoes uses a larger, and more rounded heel-cup which keeps the heel from rubbing and causing pain. I ordered a pair from Dick's, and lo and behold I am able to run again! Rated 2 out of 5 by Premature wear causes foot roll I previously used the wave rider 15 and loved them, so going to this seemed logical. These felt good for about the first 50 miles, then the right shoe wore out (feels like it compressed) along the external side of the sole, causing my foot to role externally and eventually leading to foot pain (and only 2 weeks before a half marathon). Not sure if it was a bad shoe or if this is systemic. Bummed because I really liked my 15's. April 21, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Cheap knockoff of earlier models These shoes are a weak substitute for previous Wave Rider series shoes. They are definitely light weight, but the initial "feel" of the shoe seemed sloppy compared to the glove-like fit of the Wave Rider 15 and 16 models. After a bit of use, they started wearing heavily on the outward side of the soles, causing the foot to roll over. Now the upper is starting to split because of the shift of the foot in the shoe due to the sole wear. Not the kind of performance I expect from a shoe this expensive. My first pair of Wave Riders, the model 15, withstood 6 months of running, and, after that, nearly a year of hard wear at work in a retail setting on bare concrete. Based on that performance, I swore to be a Mizuno customer for life. Based on the performance of the WR 17, I will be looking elsewhere for my next pair of shoes. Bummer, because I REALLY liked the earlier Wave Riders. February 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very comfortable! This is one of the best running shoes I have had. From the day first day, they fit good and feel great! They have not broke down any at all. February 4, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Bigger than previous editions of shoe! I have been wearing Wave Riders since 2006, same size every time. This version was at least a half size too big. Great shoe, just had to reorder smaller size. January 16, 2015
