Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by YUS BUY BUY BUY BUY I had bought a diamondback mountain bike and returned it because the gears were very mow and i couldn't ride i chosse this. this is the best bike ever. its not a pure road bike so its not paper thin. the seat is very comfortable for a stock seat. the only problem i had was i can feel everything. That can be fixed very easily with a seat shock.otherwise worth every penny. June 29, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Highly recommended for the average athlete or individuals seeking a performance leisurely ride. I purchased the Diamondback Hybrid Insight 1 2014 recently. Ordered the 16 inch frame to properly accommodate my height and weight. The 16 inch size was designed for individuals standing between 5'4" - 5'7". I'm 5'6" at about 155 lbs and it fits me like a glove. Before ordering the Diamondback from DICK'S SPORTING GOODS I was riding a 26" Havoc Hyper aluminum MTB dual shock bike I purchased at WALMART for about $ 150.00. After maybe 4 rides that bike began to break down. I invested another $ 60 or so on basic repairs but the bike shop was unable to fix the front derailleur to properly switch between gears. Put up with it for a while and decided to buy a new bicycle. Initially I wanted a road bike to get me from upper Manhattan to lower Manhattan near the South Ferry quickly and efficiently. Every weekend when it's weather permitting I take the Hudson Greenway 12 miles South and 12 miles back North towards the George Washington Bridge. The MTB would get me there albeit some mechanical issues. I became a little frustrated with cyclist of all age and sizes blowing right past me as if I were being lazy. With that being said, I had to decide what was most important to me. Speed or bike weight and power. My initial thought was to find an affordable road bike that will grant me as much speed as possible for under $ 500.00. The bike paths I will be riding are all paved roads so I didn't really have a need for a mountain bike ( MTB ). Decided maybe I can find something in between that will handle both paved and some slightly rough terrain. Came across hybrid bikes and after reading reviews and gathering some information I decided to purchased the Diamondback Hybrid Insight 1 2014. Although most pictures you see online demonstrate this bike with two water bottle mounting points on the frame mine only has one because it's a 16 inch frame. By design two water bottles would not fit on this smaller frame. The bike arrived in perfect condition from DICK's via FEDEX. Nothing was missing, damaged or required any sort of repair. I assembled the bike with one helper. The hardest part was connecting the breaks and properly adjusting the wire tension. The bike does not include a kickstand. However, the bike seat is more comfortable than the stock seats most bikes include by default. The bike definitely has a high quality feel to it and I get many compliments from strangers along the way. Some just stare and don't say anything. : ) I was very happy with it the minute I took it out if the box. Sometimes it's better to spend a little more to get your money's worth. The first few rides I remained close to home in case something went wrong. The bike performed pretty good the first time out. Didn't have any shifting issues but I didn't feel too much of a difference between the MTB I was riding and this new Hybrid. As a matter of fact, I didn't really feel the difference until I opted to go for a long distance ride across Manhattan via the Hudson Greenway. This is where the bike began to shine. I had to break the bike in a bit before it started to run smoothly. Inflated the tubes to about 30 PSI, I felt that if I go over 35 PSI the tube may blow. I also cleaned the tire rims with some Clorox wipes to remove any oil that would cause the front breaks to squeal loudly while applying the breaks. Haven't heard a single break squeal after. If you hear squealing chances are you got oil on the rim after placing the bike chain on. You need to clean that off your rims to make it stop. In any case, took the bike for a 24 mile ride and it performed beautifully. It saved me an additional 15 minutes between lower Manhattan and Battery Park. This may not seem like much but when you have wind, rain and age against you every little bit helps. I literally do not stop for breaks during the 12 mile run each way like I would be forced to on the MTB. I'm not a professional cyclist by any means, I simply enjoy having an active lifestyle. Going up steep hills is much easier! On the MTB I was dying for air at the peak. With this bike I was able to go up steep hills at the end of a 24 mile run like nothing. Just make sure you shift to the proper gear before tackling steep hills. Now I can literally blast off and leave many more cyclist in the dust on straight-aways and going up hills. Only the truly hardcore cyclist whom are in excellent shape can blow by me now with their expensive road bikes. I highly recommend the Diamondback Hybrid Insight 1 2014 model to anyone seeking a quality performance bike at an affordable price range. I purchased it on sale for a total of $ 435.00 USD. Rated 4 out of 5 by fast and smooth Great bike! Sleek and attractive and rides very smooth. Good acceleration and seems well balanced as I ride. The steering is very nimble so watch out for those potholes they're history. Overall I really love riding this bike and seems very durable. Only complaint why I gave four stars is the handlebar could be a little higher to make the ride more comfortable . But the design was geared towards more headdown racing I guess.See ya on the trail. Bon voyage! May 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Bike and Easy to Ride! I gave this bike 5 stars due to the fact that I was previously riding a cheap Schwinn Mountain Bike from 8-10 years ago. I purchased this bike to ride mainly on flat city streets w/ minimal hills; and this thing JAMS!!! I only ride 10 miles a day to the gym but I went from 21 mins (Schwinn) to 14 mins ( DB Insight 1). Very comfortable and smooth ride, I highly recommend for the novice rider. Also, good pricing, SPRT. AUTH. selling for $500. Make sure you do some research for coupons (20% off) prior to purchasing.
