Schwinn 270 Recumbent Bike 4.5 5 13 13
Good product Good product for the price . Easy to operate and nice features . Assembly instructions were easy to follow December 9, 2014
Awesome Bike I got this during Thanksgiving week, and have enjoyed using it. I was concerned about having to putting it together, but when I got it home I unpacked everything and found it was very easy to assemble. Once I got it together I started using it and was a very pleased. It is a very nice bike, I like the padded seat and how comfortable it is to use. 310 lbs. 50 year old male, I would recommend this. More bang for your buck! WE ARE THRILLED WITH OUR PURCHASE! For the money, this particular model provides great bang for the buck! From start (slicing the manufacturer?s box open) to finish (actually riding the bike), assembly took 79 minutes at a ?leisurely? pace. Assembly would have taken 74 minutes had my husband read the instructions where it specifically stated the forward, floor base wheels should, in fact, face FORWARD! Oops! :-) The 3 tools provided/included (a combo Phillips screwdriver and an open-end wrench plus 2, different-sized, Allen wrenches) are great for the job! My husband used his cordless screwdriver simply because he owns one, but it certainly wasn't required, and he never touched his set of box-end wrenches. The combo tool provided is literally perfect for assembly! Overall, he gave the "assembly instructions" and the "hardware identification packet" an ?A+.? For those who prefer ?to look at the pictures? and/or "don?t need no stinkin? instructions," do NOT impatiently remove the hardware packet's plastic cover in advance. Each screw, nut, and washer has been alphabetically labeled, and if left in place, can be easily identified and removed in the exact order needed. Note: The "operation instructions" included with the bike are INCOMPLETE. Only just enough for one to get started is provided. A more complete and detailed set of "operating instructions" can be found online here: http://download.nautilus.com/supportdocs/AM_OM/Schwinn/SCH.270-Journey2.5.AM.OM.WARR.EN.pdf For those who wish to literally press start and go . . . it?s hit the green ?Quick Start? button, tap the ?Resistance" level button up and/or down for the particular resistance desired, and start pedaling away. The fan button has 3 settings (high, medium, and low) and starts out on ?high.? The fan vent can be angled up and/or down as desired. This bike model is ROCK SOLID, QUIET, and EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE. Both the molded seat's bottom and back is far nicer than the expensive, high end recumbent bike models we?re use to using at our local gym. The unit is also fairly easy to relocate for the average individual (it?s similar to moving a wheelbarrow). It has rollers under the front floor brace and a lifting handle attached to the rear floor brace. We did have two minor complaints/observations. First, was in adjusting the seat?s forward/back position for individual leg length. The instructions dictate making the adjustment while NOT seated on the bike, however, it?s far easier to identify the exact position needed while actually sitting. One wants his/her leg to be close to but NOT fully straight when the ball of the foot is placed on the bike?s pedal in the forward position. (That?s to prevent accidentally hyper-extending ? bending one?s knee slightly in the WRONG DIRECTION.) We found sitting and placing one foot solidly on the floor while the other foot is in the pedal (forward position) to be the easiest way to find the seat position desired. The 2nd complaint is more of an individual preference. The neon blue display is a bit obnoxiously bright. We could not find any instructions for dimming so my husband used a piece of ?Customizable Light Dims? (cut to fit) to tone down the display's brightness. For those not familiar, it?s a sheet of plastic film used to dim LED lighting (such as on touch screens and large digital clocks) and can be found/purchased on Amazon. The staff at Dick's was extremely helpful, friendly, and assisted in loading the bike's box into our Honda Fit for the ride home! Of all the sporting good stores and online options now available to consumers, we feel Dick's Sporting Goods is the best! They have consistently exceeded our expectations! November 30, 2014
This product is solid and stable. It also has great features for the price. Bought this today and the salesperson Dakota and manager Chris were great at this brand new location. Even got a better deal (discounts) at the store than on the website. The bike was easy to assemble and set up. With the help of 4 kids, we did it in under 1 hour. We are now on our way to a healthier lifestyle. November 1, 2014
Bought this 3 weeks ago---LOVE IT!! Bought for myself and my husband (who has back problems) about 3 weeks ago frojm my local Dicks' in NC. Love the lumbar-designed seat back and it really makes the 40-50 min on there much easier. Programming is variable and has very good choices for different workouts based on your level of fitness now and goals to set to improve upon it. Fan works well...speakers are a nice tough and sound ok. If you have no other speaker options in whatever room you are set-up in, they do just fine. Motion is smooth and bike is VERY quiet....extremely impressed by that as other bikes I have owned have been much louder. Sturdy construction and no sway when peddling fast. Book/tablet lip is a great feature as I put my IPad there to watch video while I ride. As for assembly, it did take about 90 min total for me to do it myself. Be careful when pluggin in all the wires to connect the sensors...if they are crimped, the control board won't work (had to go back and fix that twice). Nothing though that should discourage anyone from buying this bike. I have zero complaints and it really is the best recumbent I have owned (out of 3). October 25, 2014
Great Bike I was so glad that Dicks would send this to my house since I don't have a car big enough to take it home my self. The bike arrived on time and was easy to assemble. It is super quiet and works great. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the headphone plug is a little loose and already acts like there is a short. I don't need the speakers anyway so it doesn't bother me that much. I would recommend this bike. September 29, 2014
I'm sure this bike will fill all needs that I have. I purchased this product three days ago, and I'm quite pleased with it so far. The only possible complaint I might have is that no in depth instructions were provided on operating the console. This will not be a game changer, I'm still looking online for those, but it would have been nice if they would have been included. Otherwise everything about this bike is high quality, and assembly was no problem with the good instructions. September 11, 2014
Recumbent Bike - Schwinn 270 Product was easy to put together, works great, worth the money! August 28, 2014
Good Product but limited assembly tools I had knee replacement surgery this summer. My doctor advised using a Recumbent bike for recovery. I bought this bike after looking at all available on-line bikes from various vendors. I liked everything about this model. As with most equipment to be assembled, it came with tools to help accomplish the task. Unfortunately, the seat assembly called for upside down work.and due to my knee replacement, I could not get down on the ground to fasten the bolts. All but one of the bolts eventually tightened, unfortunately the fourth keeps falling out. The tool to fasten it is now stripped so I cannot secure the bolt completely. Therefore, the seat will not secure completely and has slight movement during a workout. However, I still plan on using this bike for the rest of my life. August 27, 2014
Great bike I have tried a number of recumbent bikes at my old gym, and the Schwinn 270 is a very good one and the price is incredible. The only problem I had was the one that was delivered came in a beat up box with broken styrofoam inside. There was evidence that this unit had been assembled before. It was extremely easy to assemble (you do need two people for the heavy lifting). When it came time to install the control console, I heard some pieces of plastic rattling inside and called the number on the manual. The phone support at Nautilus (the parent company) was wonderful. They were appalled that I had received what appeared to be a product returned by another customer and offered to ship me a new console right away. I'm glad I got the padded seat instead of the ventilated one on the next model down. This bike has the bells and whistles I like, most importantly a 3-speed fan. And I love how quiet it is. Hopefully, when the replacement console arrives, I will get more accurate feedback on my resistance level and heart rate. Meantime, I'm enjoying the ride! August 27, 2014
