Rated 4 out of 5 by SeaHorse Great light weight Yak for fishing small waters I own bigger and more expensive yaks. I bought the Spitfire 9 after researching to find a light, easy to handle, carry, drag & load yak that would hold a good amount of weight, have a decent seat and storage inside to fish small creeks and such. I found this in the Spitfire 9. PROS- High quality small inexpensive SOT yak. Blow molded using high grade dense plastic. Seamless one piece construction ( line on side is mold line not a seam). Made in the USA (Utah) Dry hatch and it's position. Nice seat with a very comfortable built in hinged folding back rest. Nice handles front and rear. Roomy rear storage well with bungee net. Paddle keeps on either side. Small front bungee and small deck well. VERY LIGHT! Tracks fairly good for wide 9ft. yak. Turns on a dime. Very stable. I'm 6ft 3in & 240lbs and it fits me good and floats me great as it is rated for 350lbs. Not many small SOT yaks that have a 350 lb rating! Floats like a cork with me onboard. CONS- The "Solace Hatch" is flimsy and leaks easy. Looks cool, but the cheap plastic hatch lid is hard easy to crack plastic. I replaced mine with a water tight screw in 8in hatch to solve this issue. Easy to do and now no leak worries or needing to try hard not cracking lid getting in and out. I added side handles to match front and rear handles for carrying purposes. I added more eye pads and J hooks. Also added bungee lace setup on back well. It needs a couple flush mount rod holders that I will soon add. Other than that - great small Yak I can use nicely to fish small creeks. Easy to carry or drag across sandbars and shallows. Got it on sale for $299 too! So it was a very cost effective purchase. . May 15, 2016
