Waist band is useless... I bought these for my daughter, who is on the slimmer side, but wears regular sized clothing (not slim fit) . The length was correct, and since there was a drawstring, I figured we could adjust the waist to fit. The drawstring is basically a shoe string on the very inside with no elasticity on it. In order to make them snug enough to not fall off of her, we have to tie and untie the drawstring every time she wears them because there is no elastic. They bunch up around the waist also above and below the drawstring. They are not at all adjustable unless you are bigger than the original waistband and that is pretty large for a small child.
