Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by The product had everything that I wanted. I was so thrilled to get my Garmin Forerunner 220 GPS Watch. My wife got it for me as a milestone gift. I used it the same day and I was so happy with it. It was easy to use and I just don't know how I made it this long without it! September 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Watch I absolutely love the colors. I know it's not the most important aspect of a GPS watch, but as a girl, it matters! I am relatively new to the running arena, and I am training for my first half marathon in February (in Disney! yay!) What I like most about this watch is it displays overall time, distance, and pace on one screen. It makes it very easy to adjust my speed in order to keep with my overall time goal by looking at the pace. I did not buy the add-on heart rate monitor and I am glad I did not because I did not realize it was something additional you had to wear. The only thing I am not as thrilled with so far is it is difficult to give an accurate reading while running inside (which I figured). I notice it is difficult for the watch to find a GPS signal inside (which may just be my gym's location) and so the distance is off compared to what the treadmill reads. I don't really need the watch when I'm in the gym, just thought it would be nice to log all of my runs with one device. Overall I would recommend this product. I believe it is a good quality product for the price and a good middle of the road priced watch. July 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best purchase! I a newbie at running. Ran my first 1/2 marathon in April 2014. I've been using an app on my phone but wasnt sure whether or not it was tracking my miles July 25, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Software is impossible to use, unit wont update. Owned a FR205, which was a great unit which lasted me a 7 years. Bought the FR220 as my FR205 battery will not hold a charge. Received a notification to updaye the firmware. Update caused unit to become bricked or stuck. After numerous power downs it restarted. Then unit became stuck saying it could not up date. After at least five more restarts, it restarted. Then it would not get a satellite lock. Very disappointed, I am going to pay to have my FR205 traded in. It is getting returned to Dicks. Not worth $220. June 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Half to date! I purchased this watch online and it arrived less than 2 days before the Brooklyn Half Marathon. It was so easy to set up and use. I loved how it kept the current pace in addition to other stats. The face is clear to read which is very convenient when running. I have received multiple compliments about the style and appearance of the watch. So far, so good! May 25, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Forerunner 220 Watch works well, is stylish and comfortable. The low and high limit alerts are too sensitive. May 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it Perfect size for my skinny wrist, and the numbers are big enough for me to see without squinting. It uploads to Garmin Connect immediately, and that feature is awesome. Tons of information. April 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Full Featured The watch itself is awesome. Works on the treadmill using the accelerometer. Works using the GPS. The software is ok and the Garmin Connect website is a little complicated with the tile version. The first run I had using the accelerometer on the treadmill was off by half a mile. Went to the web page and edited the results to what it was actually. Hopefully it adjusts to my pace of running (it needs to learn me). Was bummed that it didn't sync wirelessly to my computer, you have to connect the usb cable. You can buy a USB ANT stick that will let it sync wirelessly. Love it so far. April 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Works great This watch does exactly what it's supposed to do. The full-color display is slick and you can change the colors. The backlight feature is very bright is lasts approx 8 secs which is great for night runs! The watch holds its charge for quite a long time, so it could be all day as a sports watch. My only criticism is the band; it seems a little short in length. I have large, thick wrists so I can to fasten near the very end of the band. Maybe it'll stretch out a little or be replaced if need be. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product. February 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Great Purchase I upgraded from the Nike+ GPS watch to Garmin 220. The Nike+ watch was nice, but this is actually a couple levels higher. It took a small bit to get accustomed to as far as the user interface and the features. The second time used I felt like a pro. The GPS syncs to satellites in a very short moment, even with the thick cloudy skies here in Western NY state. So far I have used the watch for both running and cross-country skiing. The watch may look a bit bulky, but is lightweight and is comfortable. Starting and ending a session is a breeze. The watch seems to get around 8 hours of session time and takes a small bit to charge. It is very easy to read outside; the character font size is good - reading indoors is a bit different. I have smaller wrists, so the watch was just right and there were a couple notches remaining where those with larger wrists may possibly have a notch to spare to keep fastened to the wrist. Once one has created an account with the Garmin Connect site you will be able to upload the information. There is an application for iPod Touch/phone and other phones or you can use the convenient wired connection for charging the watch. I prefer the connector to the watch. Once at the website you can name and modify the activity, so if you walked, rode a bicycle or cross-country skied you can make that change ~ something the Nike+ site did not offer. In addition, the session can be listed as recreational, training, race or other selections. Nice thought put into what activities people use the watch. I purchased this watch at Dick's SG and they did not have the version with the heart rate monitor on the shelf, but that is something I can acquire in the future. It is something I am curious about and will probably buy in a couple months. This watch has all I need and it keeps things nice and simple without going overboard on features. Should you be a person who keeps things simple, but want a method to monitor your progress then this is a very nice GPS watch. I am the guy (4.5 decades in age) who just started participating in half marathons and just runs for fun to stay healthy & fit. Should you be a more intense and competitive athlete and demand more functions and features then the Garmin 620 is a better option. The 620 really is a sexy GPS watch, but my limits and time exercising are that of the Garmin 220. So far I really have enjoyed the purchase of this GPS watch. February 15, 2014
