Rated 5 out of 5 by Tom Easy to hit and consistent
I spent yesterday evaluating most of the major iron sets. This included Calloway, Titelist, Taylormade, Ping, Mizumo, Touredge and Srixon. I was particularly interested in the Titelist AP2. I was quite surprised to find out that the Bio Cell irons were my favorite. A close 2nd and 3rd were the Ping Karsten and Taylormade Speedblade. Following this was the Calloway Apex. The Titlelist AP1 and AP2 were okay, but unimpressive. Objectively, I was interested in how tight a pattern of balls I could hit with a particular club. In other words I wanted consistent direction and distance. Subjectively, I graded each on "feel"; how does the fit my swing. I don't care at all how a club looks; I only care about scoring - others can worry about that. I am a 12 handicap and play 200+ rounds a year. My main weakness is hitting greens in regulation due to pulling the approach shot; more greens will translate directly to a lower score.
