Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product The sale price here is what the standard price is anywhere else. You can get this for around 120.00 on sale at multiple other stores. December 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Heater I was given one as a gift, to be used up at my duck club. I use mine to heat my 26ft toyhauler, and it works great. I would recommend getting the hose which allows the heater to be attached to a full size propane tank if you plan on using it for long periods of time. The small bottles work for a good length of time, but I use mine excessively. December 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Unit Plenty of heat, starts up well, works as it is supposed to. After I bought it I saw it a local Walmart ( everyday price ) for $119.00. Thirty bucks better then Dicks sale price. Advice is to shop around. December 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Soccer Our grand kids plays soccer and the Mr. Heater Big Buddy was life saver this past year. It will only heat an area enough for 3 to 4 people but when it is 30 degree and the wind is blowing from the north is better than a sharp stick in the eye ! We have bought two of them and do enjoy the blower feature. Maybe when the wind is blowing it might could keep 5 people warm on one side. You get the warmth from the heat being down wind from the unit. November 22, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Price No Competitive This item is priced significantly higher than other dealers carrying the same product, Good product but not at this price. November 13, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Stay clear All of Mr.Heaters , will not last for one season of continual winter use, hooked up with the optional 20 lbs. propane tank. You will never get through ten propane tanks, before it quits on you. Always the coldest night. They work great, until they won't allow the propane to restart. I use the recommended add on filter, and end up with the same results. It would cost more to repair, than what it's worth. It's two bad they won't fix the the problem, because, the rest of the heater would work great for year. March 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works great Bought this for a screened in porch and/or emergency heat if the power goes out. It works great, as advertised. February 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quick heat I use it to heat up my hunting cabin while the wood stove starts. Great heat January 12, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by just okay After reading other reviews, we purchased the Mr. Heater Big Buddy Heater to warm a garage so we could play ping pong during a winter party. We had plenty of ventilation with a back window open as needed for a gas heater, but the fumes were still too strong. To eliminate the fumes we would have needed to either open another window or partially open the garage door, which completely defeats the purpose. Perhaps this unit would work better outside when it is a tad chilly, as opposed to actually being winter-cold. The heat projected was nice, as long as you were standing directly in front of it, but it was just not powerful enough to hand a one-car garage that was at 30 degrees without heat. January 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by used for ice fishing Bought this for heating my ice fishing shanty. Really liked the low (as in -NO-) odor factor. Cranked out the heat and the 3 settings worked great to moderate the temp. High to warm the joint up, then down to low to maintain temp.- never seemed to need medium even on really cold days like 0 degrees F. HOWEVER- had some problems mid season with the pilot light clogging from the oil in the 20 lb propane tank...The recommended filter may help prevent this (we weren't running it at the time). A quick blast of the pilot light output hole with some carb and choke cleaner from the auto parts store and back in business. Get the filter- or I read in another review that an inline hose shutoff valve helps too. Rarely ran the thing on the little propane cylinders (the ones that screw right on to the unit)- but it did work dandy on those and you don't need the filter for those. Does seem to be very stingy on propane consumption- Didn't run out on the 20lb tank with at least 14 solid days (dawn to dusk) fishing! Lastly- the fan is neat and I run it off a 12 volt cigarette lighter adapter with variable voltages- which varies the fan speed. "Stirring the air up" in the Shanty definitely helps. Conclusion: Belts out heat- works great. Beware of pilot light issues- get the filter if you are running off a big tank. Fan is a nice touch- get an adapter (Mr. Heater sells one for regular house current) so you don't have buy D cell batteries. December 27, 2014
