Rated 2 out of 5 by 200g Thinsulate Claim is Incorrect Contrary to the claims on Dick's website, as well as Merrell's, these boots no longer contain Thinsulate insulation. The label inside the tongues of the boots reads: "Opti-Warm 200 gram insulation." Read carefully the description doesn't add up. If these are 200g winter boots how can they have 200g of Thinsulate and additional Opti-Warm insulation? And what's the reason to combine premium Thinsulate with Merrell's proprietary insulation? Customer service reps for Merrell cannot, or will not, explain these discrepancies. I've been told on three separate occasions someone from their marketing department would get back to me and after three weeks no one has done me the courtesy of a response. I have a pair of these boots that are 4-5 years old and the labels in those boots read: "Thinsulate 200 grams." Apparently, Merrell decided to switch Thinsulate for less expensive Opti-Warm and didn't bother to change their advertising description. November 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great shoe I bought this boot approximately 4-5 years ago, and I fell in love with it from the time I tried it on in the store. I am a mail carrier, so I walk for 5-7 hours a day. I only wear them when it's several inches of snow, and/or the temperature drops below freezing. Unlike many of the other posts, I didn't need any break in time for the shoe, the insole is, and is still very cushioned. I wear a thick wool sock over my socks, and my feet stay warm for the majority of the day. The water proofing seems to work well, but in 17 years of carrying mail, I have yet to find a boot that is COMPLETELY waterproof. The sole is just now beginning to wear out, so this will probably be their last winter. I will definitely buy this boot again! February 6, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Fall Apart Comfortable boot, but they are not quite water proof. Plus, the grey/black seam around the laces is not sewn. It's a glue seam that failed and completely pulled apart all the way around. November 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Durable & warm but... Comfortable...and keeps ur feet warm & dry. The ONLY downfall is the loops for the laces are thread. So they rip after a while and u cant even lace them up then. January 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic grip and great comfort Great boot for all around, everyday use. At first, I was a bit skeptical about purchasing this boot, as the insulated cold temperature nature tended to steer me more towards a sneaker style mid boot. However, the light weight, comfort, versatility, durability and fantastic tread sold me. The boot seems to run slightly big, perhaps 1/4 size over, but as it is a composite material, this is probably a good thing, as the material will not stretch like other fabrics or leathers over time. Upon breaking the boot in during the first day and a half, the upper section was stiff and irritated my ankle, but the very next day, was well worn in and no longer a problem. This is a great mid height hiking boot and can be worn in warmer weather (spring and fall) as they don't appear to get too warm. March 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Winter Boot Perfect boot for any winter condition. Great boot for snowshoeing and winter hiking. Extremely warm and comfortable. February 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best boots I have owned These are by far the best boots I have ever owned. I am currently on my 9th pair as I run an automotive rexycling facility and am in every type of condition available. Normal boots last 2-3 months and these last 4 times what the others do and are AWESOME comfortable in any condition.LOVE THESE BOOTS!!! January 28, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Its not waterproof! First time to buy this pair of boots. I thought Merrell was of good quality but its not true and very disappointed with the name waterproof. Not worth buying this pair. Used this for more than just a month. October 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by These are the best winter boots! I have owned a pair of Merrell high top winter boots with 400g of Thinsulate for over 7 years and they only just last winter began to leak. I used these boots for outdoor work including landscaping and construction, and I hiked in them frequently. The Vibram outsoles held up very well and have only worn in the center of the forefoot. The tread is still in very good condition, even after climbing trails and ladders, stomping shovels and ice. The boots themselves were extremely comfortable and very warm no matter how cold it was. I'm 6'3" and over 200 lbs. so I'm very particular about what type of shoes I wear since my feet can get sore very quickly, but I can wear these boots all day long and be on my feet the entire time and yet I never get sore, even after wearing them for over 7 years! I have added various aftermarket insoles but the boots are very comfortable with the insoles provided. I saw the Merrell Continuum Thermo boots and knew immediately I wanted them, since my older Merrells had held up so well. I have also owned a pair of Continuum hiking shoes and they were also very comfortable and durable, so I know the Continuum Thermo boot would be just as good as both the old boots and the hiking shoes. I've worn these boots nearly everyday since I've owned them (about two weeks) to walk and hike with my dog and they are every bit as comfortable as any old ones, and though these have only 200g of insulation they are very warm. I wore them in a creek with my dog when the temperature was 6 degrees Fahrenheit and I felt no cold. I walk and hike long distances (usually several miles at a time) with the dog and my feet never get tired. I'm extremely pleased with these boots and in fact I may buy another pair just to save for when these finally wear out about 7 or 8 years from now! January 22, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by terrible design they look good but you get wet socks from sweat because they don't breathe . after 2 months the sole peels away from the plastic upper which makes them useless. i was really happy when i got these boots and got many complements from co-workers but soon realized they were junk. if you work hard for your money don't buy.
