Rated 4 out of 5 by Sabo Can't beat the price I have taken this kayak out for 3 solid trips, twice on a high traffic lake and once at the bottom of the little Miami river. It has performed very well in those conditions. Moves quick due to the round hull and turns on a dime. Mine, as others have said, came with the foot pedals and the cap for the rear storage cup. This kayak is probably best for relaxing trips on calm waters. Fishing, bird sighting and getting a light workout are great. Storage is minimal so think day trips. I fit a couple water bottles in the back and put my phone/keys/wallet in a pelican box. Touring or ocean or white water are a no-go.. But what can you expect to $150? Now, I had to knock down a star because other people have said it: tracking is super sensitive. Yes, it does track straight as long as all the weight is perfectly balanced. The moment you shift your weight the boat does turn quickly. I recommend for anyone who wants a cheap way to get out on a river or lake, but would recommend upgrading for overnight trips or getting into the ocean or long distance. August 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by yaker I wanted to get into kayaking, this was the perfect first step. I bought two of these and they are the best bang for your buck. I'm not experienced enough to talk about the technical performance, but it floats and is fun to paddle so A+ for my needs. Since purchasing I've been launching in local lakes and rivers getting a great workout. Definitely will be continuing this hobby. If I didn't enjoy kayaking, it would have been a minimal financial loss. August 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ogbob Not a bad deal for the money... I got this one because of the price. And the reviews. I've been canoeing for a few years and decided a kayak would be a good investment. Mine has the storage hatch and adjustable foot pegs. I've only had it out once. I took it out on a local lake. It was a hoot. And, once I get used to the difference, I'm gonna love it. I will write an updated review once I get more seat time. August 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Carpe Piscis One cool banana boat Bought two, for my 10 and 12 year old, and they instantly dubbed them the banana boats. As mentioned in another review, ours came with a rear hatch cover, and adjustable foot rests, making it an even better deal. The only bad thing I can come up with, is the seat is very primitive. But there is lots of good news also. Firstly, this thing moves through the water very nice, very quick and still quite maneuverable. They are so light, I can carry one on each shoulder to the water and back. So far they seem very durable. One of the nice things, is that most of the pelicans are made from only one or two different molds, so this one, the cheapest one, can be upgraded and outfitted like any of the rest. It's already set up to accept a better seat, rod holders, bungees on the front, you just have to put them in. June 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by RK in WS Fantastic Value, Good kids kayak or spare boat for a tag-a-long guest The Sunstream's on the showroom floor at our local Dick's (Winston Salem, NC) had a rear cargo compartment and foot pegs so feature-wise they were very close to the Pelican Trailblazer. You may find this upgraded version at your Dick's as well but even without these features the Sunstream is a value. Since we also have a Trailblazer I can compare the two for you. The Sunstream has a more rounded bottom, is slightly narrower, but is the same length as the Trailblazer. The Sunstream lists a max weight of 250 vs. 275 for the Trailblazer but there is a good safety margin in the figure for both boats. Of course, max capacity is often related to how rough the water is. On the water the Sunstream doesn't track quite as well as the Trailblazer, but it's more maneuverable and a bit quicker because of it's shape. It's mostly rounded hull is much closer to a traditional Kayak than most of Pelican's line. I would not recommend this kayak for anything other than paddling flat inland water or navigating low classification white water. It obviously would not fair well in heavy chop because it's so short and open. It is very easy to get in and out of and the molded seat, though it doesn't have a back rest or padding is pretty comfortable. It's fine for short excursions even for an adult. It is the perfect kids kayak. I would buy this ten footer over any of the shorter boats designed just for kids. May 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Skywatcher My First Kayak Being a novice, I naturally looked for an affordable price so that if it weren't a good fit for me, the loss would be minimal, however there is no loss suffered here! I am glad I got this specific model. Very easy to climb in and out of and handles great in the water. Basically, this should be called "Build Your Own Kayak". I have already ordered the foot pedals and plan on getting a set of wheels next. I can simply add what I need without paying for accessories I neither need nor want. Some "deals" are full of items you don't want or need to jack up the price. Not the case with the Pelican Sunstream 100. Great price, great features for a not so new Kayak user. May 20, 2014
