Rated 5 out of 5áby All Around Good Fishing Kayak For The Price This is my first kayak and overall couldn't be happier. I searched for some time when before deciding on this particular kayak. Now with everything else there are some pros and cons to this yak. First the pros, this has an incredibly stable platform and they advertise that you can stand up. Now I haven't tried it yet, but have been crouched while pushing off shore before sitting and there was minimal tipping. I have been out in pretty choppy water and it handled the waves fine. The storage area is decent, just need to do some minor mods to open the front hatch when it warms up. The dual seating is also a plus, the only advise I could give is invest in a seat if a longer trip is planned. This can be a matter of opinion but the molded in foot rests are a plus to me. They may add some weight but I don't have to adjust anything if I want to stretch or bend my legs. Now the cons, first and foremost the tracking on this is subpar at best. Even in calm water this can track in the opposite way you want it, but who knows, maybe it's just me. The molded in rod holders are not deep enough for any rod I own anyway, so I used 1 1/4" PVC and wrapped velcro around the bottom and they made for some great rod holders. Lastly, as it has already been mentioned is the lack of padding on the seats. All in all this a great angler kayak from the beginner to expert, especially for the price. May 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby Very Stable Fishing Platform This is my first kayak, so I didn't know what to expect. It is a very stable craft to cast from and being a flyfisherman, this is very important. The craft is, I believe, first and foremost a fishing platform. It is wider and bulkier by most other kayaks I've seen. It doesn't turn on a dime and likely won't win many races, but it doesn't have to. I was a little concerned about 10 scupper holes in the bottom of the craft, but it rides so high in the water that I've never gotten wet from water coming in through the holes. Plenty of carrying capacity for gear and a trolling motor if that is your bent. I need to purchase a short, one-handed paddle for use in repositioning the craft. September 25, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby Very Happy Great kayak for fishing and camping. Very stable with plenty of storage space and can fit a milk create in the back. It handles the rapids of the Shenandoah river with ease. The hatch for the storage area in the front is a bit small(8")but I can fit my tent, sleeping bag and most other camping stuff threw it. All in all great kayak! September 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby recieved my kayak yesterday. took it to Pebble Beach. Delnorte county CA. I punched through pretty heavy surf. The first big wave picked me up and dropped me with a slap. Was able to keep it straight. Moved out away from the beach and we had pretty good swells. Headed for offshore rocks. The kayak tracked real good. With quick shallow strokes, it moved straight toward destination at a pretty reasonable clip. I got used to the stability of the kayak. Was able to move around and reach all my gear. After getting used to it and trusted it in the swells, I decided to drift fish in close proximity to the rocks. I jigged with a lite rod with Berkley gulp jigs. I caught 2 nice black snappers. The kayak felt real good to fish out of. Could concentrate on fishing. I am very pleased with the quality of the kayak at an unbelievable price. August 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby All the comfort of my lounge chair !!! They can have their expensive bass boats ! I've only had this sucker since May of this year and have already had a Million Dollars worth of fun..... I've added a high back seat one of the 8 foot stake down poles instead of the anchor, paddle holders on the side and some clips for my net also ! Throw in the Ipod and headphones and a sail on the front of it and it just doesn't get any better than that. I'm going to get to try the sail out next week, (Can't Wait) I only have two complaints and one are the pole holders behind the seat. They are great for traveling from one cove to another but cannot have them behind me when I'm casting!!!!!! I'm constantly catching "anything" I put in those holders behind me... The second thing I wish they would have done was use larger covers for the dry storage lids so that all that space underneath could be better used ! I've spent 8 hours a day two days in a row fishing from this and never once felt like I wanted to leave accept for needing more drinking water. If I could rate this sucker a 10, "I would!" Rated 5 out of 5áby Amazing Kayak!! Finally go to take it out yesterday and it's amazing. It tracks straight through the water and is easy to paddle around. I'm a heftier feller at around 260 and it's as stable as can be! It came with more tie downs than I was expecting and a anchor and trolly system already in place. Standing up in it will take some time to get used to but I didn't fall out! I would recommend this kayak!! 1 downside was the shipping company! ABF set up a time and I took the day off and they no showed, Re scheduled for the next day and they no showed again. June 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby Big Man Kyak After looking for a kayak that will hold a heavy weight, I sought this one out. I would recommend it to anyone! Easy to paddle, 2 seat positions, and plenty of leg room. At first I was a little put off from how it seemed to rock side to side. I felt ready to swim at any given moment. I found a shallow spot on the river and just took some time to feel the boat out. At 287 pounds and 6'2", I can Stand up on the boat! I can sit side ways. And the unstable feeling I had went away after I figured out the boat will lean almost 45 degrees to one side or the other with Perfect stability. The boat rides very high in the water, and works really good in a shallow river situation, or lake waters as well. Down side... I had to purchase an aftermarket seat to be able to lean back in. Otherwise my back gets tired and shortens the day on the water. My opinion of the boat... Buy a seat and BUY this boat! I have been on the big money Kayaks, and there is no reason to spend 3 or 4 times the money for a brand name sticker on the side of a boat. This is a serious boat, with a price that can't be beat. Rated 5 out of 5áby Stand UP & Fish! If you like to stand & fish, this is the kayak for you! 33inches wide with the tri-hull design you can literally stand all day. This kayak is much more stable than my SUP Paddleboard. I've only had it for 2 weeks, have taken it out 3 times and stayed on the water 5 to 7 hours each time. I only sit to re-tie or something. Also I only use a SUP Paddle which works great, and might even be a little faster. The 4-rod holders are great, and I'm not sure you can bring enough gear to fill this yak up. This is the fourth kayak I've owned and by far the most stable, and with out a doubt my favorite. April 19, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby Great kayak Just Bought this kayak cause i loved the design and the quality and all the reviews. only bad part is when i got it home it was missing the cover for the dry hatch by the seat and i believe it was supposed to come with the waterproof bag in there but it didnt and it had a broken seat cleat. called the Dicks and they said i should call Perception directly soo now we wait.. hopefully perception dosent give me a hard time and replaces them for me. still a great Kayak for the price. especially since it came with a free scotty rod holder and an anchor.
