Rated 5 out of 5 by Bamboo Flyrod God THE Primary Live Bait Rig Most guys use this hook tied onto flourocarbon leader of 25 to 50 feet, and an Albright knot onto the Kevlar braid line for tuna out here in California. On the San Diego tuna boats, you'll see little else on surface "fly line" tuna rigs in the 15 lbs - to - 40 lbs rigs, then the Gorilla Hooks on the 50 lbs and up rigs, of course the trolling rigs all have feathers, Tuna Clones, or Doorknobs. I have had 55 tuna in a few hours all on Gamakatsu's ring hooks out of Ensenada, Baja California. The anchovies were very small, and THE RING HOOKS MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE! Folks who did not have ring hooks had considerably less than half the fish, until those of us who had them gave them all out. The tuna herd was 5 miles long, and everyone got too tired of fighting tuna by 1 pm, so we went home. Every angler had at least 2 sacks of 7 lbs - to - 20 lbs yellowfin tuna, most of them on the ring hooks supplied by the 2 anglers who brought them. Make sure you have PLENTY of Gamakatsu's ring hooks in all sizes - others will want them when your filling your 3rd sack of tuna and they have 1 or 2 fish at 11 am. September 28, 2014
