Columbia Men's Midweight II Long Sleeve Baselayer Shirt 5 5 2 2
Impressive Used as base layer with a mid layer and rain jacket for walking in 29 degree temp. Wind chill at 21 degrees. 3 mile walk. Stayed comfortable. No moisture build. Warmer than other items I have used. Would be nice in mock turtle. It's a good fit. I will purchase again November 18, 2014
Great but be careful on sizing Functionally, this base layer is amazing. You can feel the difference in temperature retention the second you put it on. It's also very comfortable with respect to the feel of the fabric and reflective surface against the skin (I expected it to feel sticky or plasticky). The design allows for air circulation and moisture dissipation (there's no reflective surface in the underarm and small strip up the side - instead it is a breathable moisture wicking material) The only thing I would caution about is the sizing chart. I originally purchased an XL as the sizing chart indicated that was appropriate for chest sizes 46-49. I have a large chest and shoulders (I'm like a 47R in suits). When I put the XL on, it was too big for a baselayer in my opinion. I like my baselayer to be skin tight and/or compression. The XL was like wearing a comfortable / loose longsleeve shirt. I exchanged my XL for a Large at Dick's with no hassels. The Large is much more appropriately sized, but not tight enough (I don't dare go down to a Medium as the sleeves would likely be way too short at that size). If you like a base layer that's more like a relaxed / loose fitting undershirt, this is a perfect product. I'd like to see a more fitted and/or compression mock neck version. To be CLEAR, the technology and comfort of this base layer shirt is SPOT ON. It's great and it does what it says. Just be sure to buy the size that suits your preferences (try it on first).
