This puppy feels amazing in your hands. It has a nice tack and sticks to your hand perfectly. It's lighter than I imagined and I feel like I can chuck this gorgeous piece of leather about 65 yards. If you always wanted to treat yourself to a real genuine football, this is the one. You will never want to throw around a $20 knock-off ever again.

100% the best ball out there. The tack, laces, and over-all fit in my hand are perfect. One note: this ball gets brittle in sub-zero temps and is prone to popping if you drop it.
As for the people who don't like this ball, it's just not the right fit for you. If you can't grip it, your hands aren't big enough (you can also buy the brush which takes care of initial slickness), if it hurts to catch, you aren't catching it correctly, and if it bleeds on you, get over it.
There's no problem with being a better fit for the composite and cushioned ball, just understand what you're getting into if you think you want this ball. If you like the composite balls, stick with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Weaves18 Warning - Not for guys that wear jerseys to the mall
This ball is the real deal - the actual ball used by the NFL. For those of you that ranked it a 1-star, of course you think there are footballs that are easier to throw and catch. That's one of a thousand reasons why you don't play in the NFL. If you are an amateur player looking for a good football for pickup games, this is probably not the one for you. Here's a good test to determine whether or not you will like throwing this ball - find a middle school aged kid, palm the top of his head with your throwing hand and attempt to lift him off the ground. If you cannot, then give up your dream of being an NFL QB and don't buy this ball for any other reason than the fact you'd like to own a real NFL football.

This football will leave your hands and clothes red with dye when it's wet. Another reviewer mentioned that you need to wash it and scrub it first. Wilson says that you need to use their special brush to restore the finish after the ball is wet but they don't have the "pre wash and scrub" listed on the packaging, website nor do they include a brush. Also I've never heard of this prewash so I wouldn't call people who don't know about the oil as knowing nothing about Football as another review did. The laces on this ball are leather and sit flatter on the ball than composite laces on other balls like the GST line. The composite laces make a football much easier to throw than the leather laces. Also having composite and leather footballs I can attest that this one is the lightest and makes the ball more difficult to throw. I recommend the NCAA leather GST ball.

People who gave this Ball a 1 Star obviously doesn't know much about the Ball itself or playing Football. You are suppose to Scrub the whole ball down with Water and a soft Brush. The NFL also does this because you need to scrub the polish off. The Polish makes it very slippery to Throw this Rock so of course your going to hate it. Once broken in and Polish is removed Its the Best ball I have ever thrown!

Rated 5 out of 5 by TomJ This the is real NFL Game Ball
Yes, this is the Authentic game ball used in the NFL. I got this ball for a birthday gift and yes it does bleed red dye just like on the NFL players with a light color jersey (mainly running backs) and yes it is a little harder than cheap composite balls, But I have owned several NFL official game balls dating back to the 1970's Pete Rozelle years. And yes this is the real game ball that grown men play with in the NFL!!!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by QB starter Just a great ball!
I myself love this ball, use it all the time. As a new ball it is hard as people catching it would saybut thats new leather for ya, hold its shape well, and hold air just fine even when i travel up an down mountains. Yes it will bleed red as a new ball but a quick warm water dip let it dry and adding shoe polish (brownish is what I use) and that problem goes away long with the tuff leather feel. I enjoy it but i have big strong hands and dont need the hold the laces to put a spin on the ball...the laces are smaller on this ball then any other ball I have ever seen or used if you need laces to get ur spin, power, and accury you might want to try a Wilson's TDS 1205 ball. This ball is for the big boys.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Fallfighter Red Dye everywhere! NOT the real deal.
Not sure why only one other review had this posted on Dicks website, but this ball bleeds red as soon as any moisture gets to it. We used this in an intramural game and everything turned red-- our hands, our clothes... everything the ball touched. This is NOT the official NFL game ball used in NFL games. I read similar reviews from other websites.
