This seems a lot easier than the old way of using some sort of petroleum jelly product and rolling it up in a towel and shoving it in between your mattress over night.

Very Useful.
Very useful. Broke my glove in less than a week. If you need any tips just oil it once a month but a very small amount. Very cheap and easy to use.

Better than back in the day...
Back in the day, we used to break in baseball mitts by sticking a shot-put in the pocket, wrapping it tight, and submerging it in water overnight. After letting it dry out, we'd untie it and oil it with shaving cream. Toss a baseball into the newly formed pocket a few hundred times and, presto, you had a new mitt with a great pocket.
Modern times call for better methods. Rawlings has a kit that forgoes the water (bad for the leather anyway) and gives you all the tools to create that great pocket. The kit is worth it for the band that goes around the glove all by itself. Add in the right-sized (plastic) ball and "break-in" oil and you have the modern day version of the old school method.
We just used this on my son's Wilson (sorry Rawlings) mitt and it worked great. He will continue to put the ball in the pocket and the band on the glove whenever he packs it so it stays perfectly formed.
Well worth the money. Highly recommend it....

Seemed to work well
We have a couple of older (25 years old) really nice gloves have been passed on to my sons. One was pretty stiff and had been folded flat for a long time. This kit really helped get that glove back in good shape.
