Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this kayak! I got introduced to kayaking by a friend earlier this summer and absolutely fell in love with it, so of course I decided that I needed to buy my own. This brand is the one I borrowed from my friend. My boyfriend decided it was going to be my birthday present from him, so he started reading up on what was the best kayak that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Low and behold he fell upon this one. When he showed it to me I just started laughing because this was the one I had already been using and was thinking about buying. Hahaha. The kayak itself is awesome. I'm a beginner with all of this so I don't have much to compare it to, but to me it works as well as anything else we could have bought. It's not too heavy for me so I can get it in and out of the water without much difficulty. The only downside is (to me anyway) that the back of the seat really leans into your lower back after a while. I just took it for a 5 hr float this past weekend and I know by the end of it all my lower back was a tad sore, but nothing too bad. August 13, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by What I wanted. I have yet to use this kayak because they are birthday presents, bought 2 for my grandsons. But since I kayak myself I knew what I wanted. They are the right size and weight for them to grow into as they get older. Although one is ten, he can manage my 11.5' to have enough fun in it. They are also the right size for their mother to use as well. I am pleased with the features also. Boys can't wait for vacation to try them out. August 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boat! I bought this because I was looking for the best kayak for around 300 dollars for my first kayak. This is it!!! I have been using this kayak for three years and have taken it on weekend trips, day trips and full week trips!! It tracks really well and can get some good speed going when long paddles are needed ( I am always far ahead) I have been able to fit a good amount of gear (it would be nice to have one more bungee on the back for longer trips) I have only ever tipped once and that was because some jerk tipped me over, other than that I have done some descent rapids, this is no trick kayak, and taken on a bit of water but it is a boat... you get wet. Also the cup holder may not be essential to some people but to me this was a must! She has been used, abused and has seen some serious fun!! Best thing I have bought for great trips, great people and great floating! I hope this helps you! July 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great kayak, great company I'm new to kayaks but not watersports. I purchased this kayak on July 4th and when I brought it home noticed that the rear rubber hatch was broken from it's plastic attachment point. A quick email was sent on the 7th to the company and to my surprise they got back to me within a couple of hours. Not only that but they very quickly got my new hatch mailed out to me and received on the 10th. Amazing customer service. As for the kayak itself, while not having any other to compare it to, I felt it performed great for an entry level priced kayak. The tracking was good, the construction felt solid, and the seat felt fine for the hour I paddled around my local pond. I look forward to taking this out many more times this season. July 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Kayak! I'm new to kayaking and wanted one that was easy to handle and had some storage space and this kayak has both those features. I feel completely confident when getting in and out of this kayak as it is so very stable in the water. Tracks nice too. Was well worth the price I paid for it. July 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fusion 124 I am new to the sport of kayaking, a wheelchair user and bought the wrong boat the first time around. I knew nothing and found a "sit on top" used. Now if I had wanted something for fast water or surf it would have been a great buy, but I want to do more then spin in circles and try to stay upright. I was lucky not to get dunked but my son was not as lucky. Very disappointed. Went home and started doing some research, lots of it. Found a highly rated, budget fishing kayak at Dicks web site, they said they had it in stock so off I go to Dicks. I get there and they are sold out of the model I wanted. Another disappointment. I spoke to the salesman and asked if he had personal experience with the lower priced kayaks and he said that he had used several of the cheaper boats and personally liked the Fusion 124 above all the others, not only that he also told me that one of the guys in the northern store had several and was buying 2 more. Well, I have just returned from a week long camping and paddling trip. I could not be happier with my kayak. I used a stadium cushion for a bit better seat, it tracked well, had a surprisingly long glide despite its width and was so stable I was blown away. The only thing I am not crazy about it the fact that is is a bright yellow, so very visible! Although my husband likes that part. It has been christened "Nana's Banana" Because of my disability there are lots of things I can no longer do, (long distance biking, cross country running, climbing, horse riding) this kayak allows me to recover some of that free feeling I lost when I injured my spine. Its been a long time. July 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice stable kayak for the money. I purchased 3 of these kayaks on sale and have been very happy with them. I have kayaked before but consider myself a novice. They are very stable and the larger opening makes it easy to get in and out of without banging your knees. If I want to keep stuff dry I will purchase some dry bags. Been on a large river and small lake on a breezy day and the boat handled nicely. Seat could be cushier but then again it is not an $800 kayak and after 3 hours of paddling I was fine. Myself (a 5'5" 145lb woman) and two teenager daughters can easily load and unload the boats as they are not very heavy. So far nothing has broken but I will worry about that when the time comes. Good intro. kayak for the money. July 8, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Love the boat, hate the company Great entry level boat, stable, easily maneuvered, cheap, durable. I've had it for 4 years and scratched plenty of rocks and it's still going. Although recently a small stress fracture appeared on the bottom where the seat meets the hull. I don't really hold that against the boat, it's been years and I've been hard on it. So I contacted the company to explore options for fixing it..... That leads me to the next part of the review: Future Beach, as a company however gets the 1 star. Over the years I have attempted to contact them regarding accessories and other questions and have never gotten a response. never. You fill out the contact us page on their website and get an automated response saying they will get back to you and simply never do. Call and no matter what department you dial to, an automated message simply says voicemail is full and hangs up on you. During business hours. It's incredible, over years and several attempts (and this is mostly regarding accessories, ie, to spend more money) I have never reached a single person. So, if you buy it, hope you have the luck I did with it holding up, because they are never going to help you. June 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best Value for your money! I've had this kayak from Dick's for the last four years. My sister's family has two of the same, my brother's has three, my bro-in-law's has four. All from Dick's and all the exact same fusion kayak. They are absolutely the best we've ever owned! I can't recommend them any more highly than the fact that my family should own stock in them! I'm in the market for another one as soon as they go on sale. These kayaks are great for all ages! May 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Kayak for the price I own 3 these now and we all love them. They do get a tad uncomfortable after hours on the water but so doesn't my more expensive one. Great for beginners. Flat bottom so very hard to tip. my 13 year old, 18 year old and my husband love them. Def. recommended to any future kayaks. May 27, 2014
