Rated 1 out of 5 by Leaks Anyone? I think this boat has a surprising amount going for it. It tracks well, is even more stable than the Wilderness Systems Tarpon by a little, it is fairly fast for a sit on top, and it comes with a surprising number of bells and whistles for an inexpensive kayak. Here's the problem: THESE BOATS LEAKEveryone who's bought one, I strongly suggest you stand it on its end against a tree, a deck etc, so that the stern is on the ground (where the drainage plug is). Make sure to secure it with cables or a strap. Then slide a hose down the front hatch. I did the day after I bought mine and sure enough, shooting out water through a hole located within the scupper ring (very bad place to have a leak as it's drawing in water constantly)So back it went Dicks was fine about taking it back, But anyone using this boat ought to do the above. I spent the extra money and got a Wilderness Systems Tarpon.Well, well worth the difference. Built Ike a tank. It all ultimately comes down to the material and the material this boat is composed of is cheap, weak and not something you want to be in out on the water. July 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great first time kayak This is the first kayak I've purchased but I've used several others and I'm please with my choice so far. I just got it last week and I've only taken it out twice so far but it tracks well and turns quickly when needed. I'm a 28 year old female that is 5'6" and 135lbs and I can load this baby up and off of my car by myself and without much of an issue. I do have to kind of lay it on the front of my car for a moment before I lift it all the way up to get it on the rack, but I just lay a blanket down on the hood of my car so as not to scratch it. It's working great so far. As far as the fishing features, I'm not sure how effective pole mounts on the aft of the boat will be. Can someone explain why they would put them there? I haven't attempted to use the watertight compartment yet, I have my own waterproof box I bring along that I store in the front of the kayak, but I'm sure I'll end up using it eventually. I think it will get some use when I go on longer floats lasting a few days, rather than just day trips out to the lake. The seat is comfortable as are the leg cushions. I'm really glad those are there! Sturdy, stable kayak. I give it a 4 only because I've only used it a couple times. Also still need to figure out how to go about using the pole mounts. Good kayak. Definitely recommend it. July 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by nothing better for the money I got mine 3 years ago on sale. I love this kayak. Super stable yet turns easy and is pretty fast. Mines been thru class II rapids and out on one of the great lakes. No problems at all. July 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super smooth on the water This kayak was the correct purchase for fishing. I have been searching for a kayak for a month and finally decided on this one. Very sturdy and lightweight. I use it consistent and I love it. July 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great first kayak I bought one of these for on a lake 2 summers ago. After researching for months, this is the one I picked out for the size and weight limit. I am about 6'3" 280. I fit well in this, not a lot of wiggle room, but it isn't too small. We bought another one for my wife as well once she felt how stable mine was. They have held up very well in the couple years of use. I highly recommend these kayaks. July 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fun, functional, and stable I live on a coastal river, and so enjoy kayaking a lot. The addition of this yak to our small fleet was very welcome, replacing a sit on model. This yak feels very stable in all the conditions it has experienced so far, including light chop in a fresh breeze, and tracks well, while still being quick to steer. I have not yet had the opportunity to fish from it, but it will need a rod holder mounted forward of the pilot to be very effective, as the surface mounts it has are aft. Overall, I like it very much. July 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by more than happy! Caught a great package deal with kayak, paddle and pfd, around fathers day. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. While the storage pod doesn't seem water proof and the boat itself weighs in at about 60 lbs, over all great first kayak. Tracks nice, cuts through the water and cruises almost effortlessly down the river. June 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Kayak I went floating with a friend that had one of these, watched him speed off and leave me a few times. lol so today I went and bought me one. cant wait to go this weekend , the lock box is water tight we had all of our phones in there never got wet. June 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by rivers and lakes have owned for 3 weeks now and have done shallow rivers fast rivers and still lakes with this kayak. im 6'3 220lbs so the 500lb limit is great for all the gear I plan to take out once hunting season starts. doesn't tip easily and have forced the tipping point a few times to avoid rose bushs on tight corners, but full control and never flipped. great boat so far. 5 day trip in a week and I believe it will hold everything needed, even the dutch oven June 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by nice boat I took it out and it did great. I give it 5 stars! However, I tried contacting Field and Steam about a missing rivet that holds the knee pads on but I have still not gotten a response. Someone please help me find this part. Thanks! June 25, 2014
