Don't know why you all are complaining
there was no issue with this product like the previous people are saying. all the parts were correct nothing had to bent, re-drilled or anything. took me about 25 minutes to put the mount together onto the backboard. will take about an hour to attach to the garage. no mounting bolts come with it to mount to the garage, but that is a given you need to buy your own and modify the mounting location. anyone who knows how to handle a wrench should have no issue with this product. the only thing it advertises falsely is that it is galvanized. the product is made out of stainless steel. the other issue is that the directions are in about 8 seperate languages, could be separated out instead of all mixed together

Universal Backboard mounting kit
Once you understand the instructions, this product works great. You cannot use any other mounting brackets with this kit. You must use the material that comes with this product. Depending on how you mount this unit, you may need additional screws and nuts that are not included.

Product good - Dick's bad
This was my first experience with Dick's Sporting Goods, I wish it had gone better. It took 3 visits (I live 20 miles from the store) to complete my transaction. First, I got bad advice from the Dick's sales associate regarding what was (and was not) included with my purchase. My second visit to pick up the needed hardware to mount my hoop was incomplete because the box was missing a piece. My last visit to pick up the missing piece was an OK experience but it was 2 visits too mane. The manager, Steve was nice and apologized but I was expecting some type of consideration to make up for my time, gas and frustration.

Not So Universal.
It simply did not fit my basketball hoop. I had a contractor re-bend the metal to make it work. it was easier to do that than to return it.

Universal basketball backboard mtg kit
Problem with holes not aligning between mounting kit and backboard. Also, bolts missing. Had to drill holes and modify kit to fit backboard. Fortunately I have the ability and tools to do so.

Are you mechanically inclined?
Bottom line is - this kit got the job done. I did not have the time or patience to read the poor directions. Unless you are the type that can look at something and figure out how it goes together, or have A LOT of patience to read the poor, disjointed, conflicting directions, have someone do it for you. I just looked at the pictures, improvised a bit, and got the back board up just fine.

Big Loser
Bought a backboard and since this was the only "Universal" bracket offered, I bought this as well. It didn't fit. Period. I don't know what backboards it does fit, but they're not made here in the US. Instructions were in Chinese. Totally unusable. Returned for a refund.

this has been a nightmare.
did come with mounting equipment which was not made clear to us time of pruchase. when equipment was purchased not all parts were present in the box. the missing part was ordered but when it arrived we found that needed bolts were not present. [...]
