this knife is great out of the box. Blood does not do well on the handle. slippery .it should have a handle that absorbs blood and other visceral fluids. very difficult to sharpen in the field. I keep one for personal security. K-Bar is Better ,leather handle is good for blood absorbtion. strong steel blade. can be used in many ways spec. ops. I would put this blade in my backpack, as a good backup. Steve, Marine Corps , Special Opps. VietNam.

My Buck 119 was a gift from a friend. Best gift I ever got. I throw all kinds of knives all the time, some are easy to 'stick' others are not so easy. I can stick this 119 every time! Don't know what it is, perhaps it's the weight, the handle, balanced design? can't say. The tip has never bent or broke. Buck steel seems to be superior to the rest. Every one should have this blade.

I bought the Buck 119 when I started U.S. Army Special Forces training at Ft. Bragg, NC back in the 70's. Black leather sheath and always carried strapped to my chest or on my hip. It has been with me to (Hades) and back and never let me down.

As expected, the Buck 119 proved to be a great knife for the price. I own several other Bucks and have never been disappointed. I've owned a 110 folder for almost 30 years and it has proven to be a reliable knife. The 119 shows the same quality craftsmanship.

I have carried this knife in the boot and in the belt, in Texas, California, Florida and Central America countries, in humid and salty air for long periods. I have used it in wood, animals and multiple things. The sheath is excellent but mine has a mark because for some time I pasted a little pouch with a sharpening stone in it. It was my first fixed blade knife and underwent abuse and improper usage. After more than 40 years of use and abuse the knife is in perfect condition, the only thing is that the hilt silver has lost a little of the original shine. I use sharpening stones only and the steel is hard but nothing out of workability.

I recently bought this knife after owning the smaller Woodsman for a pretty long time. I haven't used it for much yet, but I expect very good things from it. It's a good grade of steel, and it's made in the US.

This is a good knife I use it quite frequently and the only problems I have had with it was that it dulls pretty easily and it is difficult to put a sharp edge on it without scuffing the rest of the blade because it is so thick and wide.
