Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Decent stuff Out of all Mountain House freeze-dried meals, this is one of the more palatable. By adding more water you can get a hot soup, which is nice in cold weather. October 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good taste for a ten minute meal We have just returned to hiking longer stretches and found the meals have improved from what we remember years ago, it is not homemade but tastes good on the trail or in a pinch. May 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Stick to the ribs disaster chow. Good to go. Bug Out Bags, disater supplies, hunting, camping, whatever. Great taste and easy to prepare, just need 2cp's of water. Will keep these on hand for any apocalyptic events. October 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tastes like homemade Love it! It's easy to make and taste's great. Even my 12 yr. old son, who's a very picky eater, wanted a second helping, he even ate all the vegies. Quick cook time, took longer to get the stove lit and water to boil. October 17, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by tasty I cant believe how much mountain house has improved since the last I had one several years ago. We took several flavors on a remote hunt and I thought I would have to force feed myself, But after the first one I was looking forward to eating dinner every night, after several dinners I ran out of meals before I ran out of taste. Very recommended. October 16, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by A nice meal at the end of a long day Quick and easy when your legs are spent from a long day of hiking the AT. Just bring the water to a boil and let the pouch take care of the rest. Easy clean up too! May 7, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by very tasty easy to prepare but one should let it sit an extra minute or two. August 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lightweight to pack and heavyweight satisfaction. I have no long history with Mt. House but since I started eating their pouch meals 5 years ago they have all satisfied. Preparation consists of adding 1L of boiling water and waiting a prescribed time as listed per different meal. I have found that heavy meat meals should sit longer than suggested for the meat to fully absorb water for a tender product. The pouch is a heavy foil bag and the ready to eat product will be the same temperature as the water was going in. The pouches are also deep and you may want a longer spoon or to pour the meal out for consumption. Empty bags still serve purposes as they are insulated, zip closed tightly and pretty tough. Just a couple filled with air could float your pack. Lastly Mt. House has a very long shelf life where older bags were 7 years; and more recent ones are 10 years and longer. A win-win product ! Rated 5 out of 5 by Delicious! We love this stew! It's so good and super easy to make! January 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Better than expected! I used this product while hiking for the first time. It was very easy to make (add boiling water, stir, wait) and clean up! The taste was better than anticipated as well. May 7, 2012
