Rated 4 out of 5 by Mountain House Chili Mac w/beef review This was the first Mountain House product that I tried. Easy to prepare and tasted great. Even the kidney beans rehydrated well, along with the pasta. It was a tad soupy so I'll add less water next time. I did have gas the rest of the evening but it was worth it. My package still had almost six years of shelf life left. Great product. I would by this again. June 4, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by From a Chef and avid camper... This was one of my first ventures into freeze dried food for backpacking and camping. I usually combo fresh, canned and MREs. But I found the MH mac n cheese with beef was delicious and filling. Was nice to lighten my pack as well. June 30, 2015

Rated 4 out of 5 by good food, very easy to fix and worked great on a resent elk hunt, not bad at all November 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a great product for a quick meal in camp. My daughter really likes this dish. When we are trout fishing in the NC mountains, she loves having this as a meal. It helps warm her up and is great tasting as well. As a matter of fact, she enjoys this at home at times too. October 7, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mountain House Freeze Dried Food MH Chili Mac w/beef.... I took two on a 5 day through hike of the Laurel Mountain Hiking Trail about 1.5 wks ago. The quantity was sufficient and very simple to prepare. Mostly I appreciate the weight of the product (next to nothing). The taste was quite comparable to good quality "Momma's cooking". However, I'm glad I only took two of those. I also had the lasagna and chicken and herbed mashed potatoes. Both were even better than the Chili Mac. And finally, regardless what you may think, the aluminum packaging does burn to nothing. So, carrying your garbage out of the field is that much simpler. First time I had Mountain House freeze dried foods but will not be the last. September 10, 2013
