Smith's Diamond Field Precision Knife Sharpening System
I think this is an awesome system and am very pleased with it.

product needs to be refined
Each rod will "seat" at a different angle in each honing block, thus not providing a consistent angle to the blade. I modified the threaded ends to remove the "cupping" that occurs when the threads are rolled. I thought by flattening the threaded end it would make the guide rod seat parallel to the honing pad. Nope, it didn't matter. It?s not worth sending it back.

A failproof sharpening system
Overall a good precision system,
I would like to have seen more degree of angle options, possibly a 15 degree adjustment for straight razor honing.
The system works very well and is of good construction.
I'm happy that I purchased it.

Sets the Edge
I bought this to work on an abused high quality knife. It set the edge I had been having trouble with in short time and I was able to finish it to shaving perfection with my usual sharpening tools quickly. Highly recommended!!! The pocket diamond sharpener is an added bonus and works great on serrated edges.

Solid kit.
Does a good job. Ironically I find myself using the travel diamond sharpening tool significantly more than the system, but that is a matter of my own laziness and not a fault of the system. If you have dull kitchen knives expect to spend a while working on each one, it's not magical and requires a large number of strokes to grind away a bad edge. Again not the fault of the system just a warning that you will have to put a lot of effort into returning cheap dull edges to good form.

Works Great!!
This product is easy to use and works great on knives with small blades(less than 4 in.). Puts a very good edge on pocket knives and other small hunting knives. With larger knives it is difficult to get the knife to stay in the guide without moving. Larger knives tend slip and sometimes fall out of the clamp. The aluminum clamp can tend to scratch the blade on some knives, rubber covered clamps would probably have been better. Ovrall, a much easier and faster way to sharpen small knives. Would have been a 5-star with a better clamp.
