Not Worth The Money
I bought this for 2 Kayaks I purchased. The Posts do not stay upright even when tightened around both Kayaks. I have this installed on a Trac Rac ladder rack and it is too small for the crossbar. The base cracked the second time I used them, they are going back.

Poor Quality
We bought these for our two new kayaks. Got them loaded and secured about one mile later we almost lost our boats. the locking mech holding the arms up released, they were very secure before we started. We took everything down and reinstalled same thing happened so we returned for the J's that work fine.

Good to go
Use it all the time without the bow or stern straps. They aren't really needed, but they also tend to come loose which results in the S-hooks coming un-hooked from the bumper and falling off of the strap (if this happens when you're driving they're gone for good). When I do use the bow and stern straps I know use metal carabiners from a hardware store.

All I have to say is Yakima is a great product from kayaks to bikes........

will be going back
one post would not stay upright. tiedowns came loose letting kayak move and turn (maybe from the front post falling) may have been one bad part the other one stayed in place just fine. i will be taking this one back to try a different style or brand.
