Rated 5 out of 5 by Yakima is awesome This is a review on both this product, the Universal Canoe Roof Rack Foam Blocks, and the company, Yakima. First, the blocks: I have used this product numerous times, including 3 times at 70MPH for about 3 hours each way. I do suggest using ratchet straps when traveling at high speeds for long distances. The fact is, my plastic canoe, which is very large at about 4 feet wide in the middle and 14 feet long, does wabble a bit with cross winds at highway speeds. There have been times I wondered if it would stay, but this inexpensive solution has worked well for years now. Second, the company: There was a time when I needed to replace one of the blocks. I expected to call Yakima and order a single block and pay for it myself. Yakima was wonderful about it. They told me that they don't sell single blocks, and then they sent me an entire new set at no charge. They stand behind their product, and I appreciate companies that do that. February 13, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very expensive for what it is Four foam blocks and five nylon straps with buckles and S-hooks. One of the blocks tore after one use. The do not really fit on the gunwhales of my Old Town 146. The buckles on the straps also slid while in use leaving slack in the front and back. I have to secure the straps with a knot, in addition to the buckle. In fact, I now use a ratcheting tie-down strap. This should be used only by an automobile with no roof rack. It was not worth having on my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Two $1.99 pool noodles do a better job than the foam blocks. The idea is good. Execution could be better and less expensive. The storage bag is great. The center strap is a great idea, I've not done that before. The blocks being ambidextrous is a good idea, but perhaps contributed to the torn block. After a few uses, the only part of the kit I now use is the bag and center strap. I use pool noodles cut to size and slit down the long-way, and ratcheting tie-down straps for the front and back. I'll probably use the other parts to hang the canoe from my shed rafters, so its not a complete waste. July 29, 2014

Rated 1 out of 5 by No Not worth the money, just save and buy a nice roof rack instead. June 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A lot stronger than it looks Kit worked great for a 95-mile carry of a 17-foot canoe on top of a Toyota Sienna. The picture on the web site is deceiving because there is only one strap to go across the middle and two straps to 2 S-hooks at each end. (Total of 5 straps and 4 S-hooks) But with the foam blocks, the strap across the middle worked very well especially strapped through the windows. Canoe did not have a working loop at each end so straps were long enough to wrap around the seat frames, Front S-hooks were hooked to the engine frame under the hood. The sales person helping us took everything out of the bag and noticed that straps were missing - so we picked up another bag - where the straps were still sealed in a plastic bag. That save was the biggest part of this sale, otherwise we would not have been able to pick up the canoe we just bought! You can find more expensive straps and buckles - but these held up without any slippage during our journey. June 17, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Meeting Current Needs Purchased these when I got a new canoe and couldn't source locally something that could be fixed to my cargo rails. There were other options available, but these had an additional cut that fit perfectly on my rails. Not sure how long they will last due to the material, because, hey it's foam. Happy for now! Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Helpful product We used this item to move two different boats. We did lose a foam block (our fault) but we will replace it. July 8, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by It works ... Does what it's supposed to do. Only going short distance with it, dont know if I would feel comfortable on highway. The foam seems to wear out pretty quick. May 7, 2014
