Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 53 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Insuring this rod is a must Where do I start? The rod is a quality blank, most berkleys are. It is very ergonomic, and casts well. The split grip is nice, and the reel seat is a very cool design. Very sensitive and light for the price. That is where the pros end. The cons are few, but render the rod absolutely useless. First the guides are not high quality, I could live with that, since it is an economically priced rod. The real problem lies in the lockdown grip for the reel seat. It is made of thin plastic, and no reinforcement whatsoever. If you dare to tighten the seat enough to actually secure the reel, you WILL break it. I have used Berkely rods for many years, and this one is a definite fail on the durability factor. BUY THE INSURANCE IF YOU PURCHASE THIS ROD, or you will have a nice rod that can not hold a reel before long February 22, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Broke withing 24 hours So i buy the pole...i go to retrieve the pole from my car and as soon as i grabbed it, It SNAPPED in my hands like a damned celery stalk. The only thing that would have made me more angry was if it had done so in the middle of reeling in and cost me a nice fish...I will return and upgrade to a pole that can take the enormous pressure of someone laying a finger on it... Rated 1 out of 5 by Will never buy this pole again. It's a shame.. this pole works pretty good for the price. Problem is.. I broke three of these within the first week of owning them. The handle is so cheaply made that tightening the reel will make the handle crack in half. I don't recommend this pole at all. The first time the pole broke, I thought it was my fault but after 2 more poles that did the same thing.... I know it wasn't me. May 1, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by do not buy if u r serious fisherman the rod will break when you try to tighten your reel to the pole cheap plastic not worth five dollars July 24, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Broke the fist time I used it The knob where you turn to tighten the reel cracked the first time I used it. They should be embarrassed for selling such a product. To make matters worse, when I went to return the pole and find a replacement at the store I noticed that three of the other AMP poles on display were already cracked in the same spot! On top of that, the reel I bought with the pole (Abru Garcia Cardinal) was broken right out of the package. Does this store not have any dignity left selling broken products? I had to go back twice just to replace the defective pole and reel. What a waste of time. April 8, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by junk Med rod, more like super ultra light. Very soft. 2nd amp rod and never again June 13, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Pole for the Value This pole is great. It has a great casting ability. It has a nice sturdy backbone, really sensitive, has a great feel, and has a lot of control. The top half can be a little flimsy depending on where you are fishing but is always straight when you are casting and has a far casting disstance. I own the Medium and is great for fishing for bass. Anything bigger than 6 pounds I would recomend getting the Medium Heavy, but the medium can deffinetly handle bigger fish. My pole is about 6 feet in lenght and can cast REALLY far for its size. I highly recomend this pole when you are looking for a nice bass fishing pole for under $50. May 19, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Cheaply made. Very light though. Although I haven't had the chance to actually use it yet, it seems to be too lightweight, i.e.,flimsy. I bought this on sale for $1 as a combo price. I don't think I would by this for the regular price of [$], or the "raised" sticker price at Dick's for [$].The handle broke when I mounted the reel for the first time. Returned for a new one. The guides seem to be cheap and only metal. The rod does seem to be very light and could be very sensitive, also, but I would need to try it out first. April 4, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Cheap Nice design. Not well constructec May 14, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Almost got it right The ring that holds the reel tight is not reinforced with a metal ring. It is plastic that you tighten the reel with and it breaks. Reel falls off rod. Needs one or two more eyelets. And a reinforced reel holder and it would be a five star rod. August 21, 2012
