old memories My god parents got me one of these with the ss barrel when I was 5 and it lasted me till I was 15. I hunted frogs squirrles and many grackles with this gun. It was left in the rain and snow a few times but it still lasted me many years of enjoyment. I hope you order one and get as much use and make as many memories as I did with this gun. March 17, 2013
Cheap accurate fun. This is not my first airgun, but it is my first 760 - my friend had one of these when we were kids. This airgun is pretty well put together and the fiber optic sights are great. I did not mount the scope, but I found that out of the box the iron sights were adjusted to max elevation. After putting them back to standard elevation, they were dead on at 10 yards. I was shooting wadcutters, with excellent accuracy. Yes, this gun has plastic parts, but everything in this price range does. My 20+ year old Crosman with plastic pump is still going strong, so I expect this one will be similar. If you want cheap accuracy and fun, this airgun is worth every bit of the asking price. If you want the latest hot rodded airgun with super velocity for bench braggin rights, you can spend more on a Gamo or Benjamin. Either way, this airgun has plenty of oomph for varmint/bird hunting. Crosman Pumpmaster 760 air rifle ROCKS!! Unbelievable air gun, shoots with unsurpassed accuracy and precision. It should cost 1million dollars its soooo awesome...maybe not but its pretty good October 16, 2012
great gun It takes a little while to get the scope sighted in but when you do it does not get any better than this. Shot a shaken up can of coke and it ripped the side open so you could fit your hand inside. October 16, 2012
good starter gun This is a good gun for someone to start of with. the only problem is the air pump snapped of within two weeks and i returned it to get a better gun. August 15, 2012
Great first air rifle. My son loves this rifle! I'm happy with it as an entry-level air rifle. I like having the option of BBs or pellets. BBs are cheap for plinking, pellets are more accurate for learning the discipline of aiming and trigger squeeze. I hadn't practiced for many years, but I was able to get a nice group at 25 feet with only 5 pumps. My 8 year-old son is just able to get to 5 pumps. He will build those muscles, I'm sure. I haven't installed the scope yet, as I want my son to learn on the "iron sights." Unfortunately, this is where the 760 loses a star (should have been a star and a half). While the rear sight has elevation adjustment, there is no windage adjustment. I had to bend the sheet metal sight in order to sight it in. I have the 1975 version of the 760 and it has windage adjustments. The older rifle also has a metal receiver whereas the new one is all plastic. This did not cost any stars, however, as the lighter weight is perfect for my kids. The new rifle also has a sliding magazine so I don't have to keep count when using pellets. When shooting BBs, you have to make sure you don't bump the BB magazine lock, otherwise, with the slightest touch, the "on-deck" BBs will roll back into the reservoir. I am happy with my purchase as I was able to work around the sight issue, but someone who is new to the sport and does not even know about windage, my become frustrated wondering why they can't hit what they're aiming at. (The manual does show how to adjust windage on a similar model, but that model was not available at the store. Perhaps on-line.) August 11, 2012
