i have been wanting one of these for years
this pole is great, sensitive and affordable. the only thing that i don't care for is that it is a one piece pole and carrying it can be crowded. but if you have the room there is no better pole. this is going to lead to fun for years with this great fishing stick. dick's sporting goods on-line store also made it very easy to use a gift card too. i give a two thumbs up on this product and to the great company of dick's sporting goods.

Always Better Than Advertised!!!
I have fished with custom rods, high-end graphite, and even carbon fiber...and for my money...I have always caught my biggest fish and the most fish on Ugly Sticks. Why? Because day in and day out, this will be the rod you go to in all conditions...the one that stays in your truck, boat or lake house...since it is priced right and almost indestructable. I caught over 100 white bass in a few hours with this rod...sensitive enough to detect the lightest tick on the line...but with enough backbone to pull in a large catfish with ease!

A Good Fishing Pole
I have always liked the Ugly Stik. These rods are strong and sensitive just as advertised. Although I don't know what it is called, I like this rod because it has that finger rest thing for easier casting. Secondly, I like these longer rods so I can get past the cattails; I do a lot of pond fishing. Thirdly, I like this rod because it is a two piece pole. I made the mistake of buying a 7 1/2 foot Ugly Stik once. I thought "I can get past those cattails now". When I got out to the car, I found that I could not break the pole down to get it in the vehicle. I gave this rod a five star rating because this is the best pole I found of today's choices. I do not understand why you can no longer get the old pistol grip design in a longer Ugly Stik rod today. Do you really need a two handed grip rod to catch a bluegill or bass? As far as I know, these are not deep sea fishing rods. Another question I have, "is felt the best material they can come up with for the handle? I don't use worms but my children do. I have slim on my hands between baiting their hooks and unhooking their fish-- not to mention sand and mud. I try to fish in those times between helping the kids. I am usually a mess when I have to handle my felt fishing pole. The Ugly Stik rods have plastic over the felt so it does not get damaged in shipping. Needles to say, I leave this plastic film on the felt hand-grip. However, as stated earlier, this is the best rod that I have found among today's choices.
