Great BLUES and Striper Rod
I have been using the 6' and 6 1/2' Medium Ugly Sticks for YEARS catching Blues, Stripers, and Spanish Mack's off NC piers and rock piles in DE. NEVER had a problem with these rods, except once, the rod tip guide's ceramic came off. Went to the store and they REPLACED IT WITHOUT DELAY. I use a good 12 pound mono and land fish up to 16+ pounds, and the fight is just the very best. a GREAT rod at a GREAT price.

I Love these Shakespeare Ugly Stik rods
I run an inshore fishing charter business, and the only fishing rods I'll buy from now on are Shakespeare Ugly Stiks. Probably the most durable item on my boat!

Great rod for the price...
Used this rod for some Chinook Salmon summer runs for my daughter. Sadly, we did not land any large fish on this rod, but still hope to.

Ugly Stick is the best!
I bought this 7' medium heavy action Ugly Stick for my neighbor to save him a trip to the store, on my recommendation. I have been using this exact style for years now on the ocean to catch all types of rockfish and halibut. My neighbor asked me if the rod will handle large fish or is it possible that it could be broken by a large fish. My answer to him was such: With this or just about any pole, it's not the fish you have to worry about it's the incidentals. Such as stepping on it in the boat, tripping on the rocks on your way down to the waters edge, running it into something. All those things you anticipate but can't always avoid. Him and I both fish from a 14' aluminum that we beach launch as well as kayak fish the waters off Central California. I have had no problems with eyelets breaking off and no broken tip from rough use. Or shall I say abuse. I think this one test in the store will prove my point. Grab any other comparable pole off the shelf and see how much you can make it double over before you start to hear the pole start to crack. then do the same with an Ugly Stick. You will then understand why Ugly Sticks are the best. Great action in the rod as well.

Great value for the cost
I chose the Ugly Stik because: I have several, they are dependable, rugged and a great value. I use them to fish for big cats or when I could possibly break a $100.00 rod 4-wheeling. They are not Pro-quality bass rods nor intended to be but they are sensitive enough for the average angler.

Strong but agile rod!!!
I use this rod for spinners, marabou jigs, and heavy (1oz) bait casting in Lake Erie. This rod is marked MH or medium heavy for its' Model # 110166, not Medium only. I am purchasing another one this weekend for my wife who likes to still fish with me in Lake Erie. In April 2011 I brought in a 29" Steelhead weighing 8 lbs. without any problems from the pole with 12 pound Trilene and a marabou jig in the lower Rocky River. This is a great pole for big fish.
