Unreliable
Bought this filter to take to Quetico. It didn't last one day. Quit pumping after about five minutes. Did all the required maintenance to no avail. This was in clear lake water. Very dis- appointed. It pumps a little water without the filter. Put the filter in, nothing will go through.

Reputation alone sold me on this filter
I have not used it yet...but my intent is to take it when I take my family camping, biking, etc. Many of my fellow soldiers use this model, so I trust it.

When it works, it works well . . .
We canoe camped in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and relied on the miniworks for water. Well, we didn't dehydrate but the filter was only good for a couple of liters before it needed maintenance. That was somewhat surprising because the water we were pumping from was clear. And it's frustrating when you're relying on the filter to keep four people from thirst. I shudder to think what it would've been like to use it on a green water source. I had a PUR filter years ago and it was much more efficient than this one. Fortunately, cleaning is fairly quick, once you troubleshoot and figure out that the ceramic filter needs a scrubbing. We had to scrub the ceramic filter a time or two to get five gallons from this filter.

Great filter
Small and light enough for me on extended backpacking trips. The take down and cleaning is simple. Screws on the top of a nalgene bottle- great feature. Just make sure to keep the filter clean!

reliable for the Marines - great product
Used this on many scout trips and never a problem. fits most nalgene bottles and bladders. Fast to pump, light enough to pack and easy to clean and maintain.

pretty pretty good
It's easy to carry and good at filtering but doesn't fit some common water bottles. Still pretty good all together.
