Holliday INN for one. I have had this tent since 1979 and never regretted this purchase. Went camping with my drunk buddies and their walmart cheap tents. It rained during night. They got soaked but I was dry. They all were impressed with tent and vowed never to get caught again. I now pack it on my cycle and go for week long trips. I never force a zipper and always store dry. On very hot days it is very cool with 2 windows. February 3, 2015
Cheap Zipper We have purchased Timberline tents for our Boy Scout troop in the past and found them useful, easy to set up and good quality (lasting many years) However, the last purchase of tents in 2013, was a disaster. Eureka cheapened the zipper - and they won't stay closed. The teeth on the zippers don't hold, and if you pull the zipper just right, and manage to close the zipper, it pulls open a very light pull. Simply, they won't stay shut! We now have to replace all 8 zippers on the tents! No longer worth the money - since Eureka won't stand behind their product, and the labor to replace the zippers is huge. October 19, 2014
A High Quality Tent for the Price I am a 17 year old eagle scout who recently purchased this tent, and basically have nothing bad to say about it. Of all the tents I have slept in or used, I would say this is the most sturdy 2 man backpacking tent. The Pros: The tent is easy and quick to set up once you do it once or twice, and after one trip I can now set it up alone in less then 5 minutes. The aluminum poles are infinitely better then fiberglass poles and seem much less likely to break. The tent is very waterproof, and also stood up to moderately high wind gusts easily. While the tent may not seem very roomy when you first look inside, it easily fit me and my friend with all out backpacking gear (we were both around 5 ft 8 in and of average weight). Although at first I was worried by the apparent stress on the top pole, the tent frame is extremely sturdy and I now have total faith in said pole. On that note I have only had a few experiences with this tent, but it seems very durable. The Cons: I only have a few nit picky things to say here. The tent bag seems almost comically big, which means it seems to slip and slide a little bit when strapped to a pack, but on the flip side it is easy to fit the tent into the bag. I would have liked to see a little more mesh on the inside of the tent, but that is just a personal preference, and with your head it at one of the ends of the tent you can still see a good expanse of sky with the fly off. There are also quite a few different parts to the tent (7 poles plus 2 pole clamps) so if you are buying for a forgetful child I would simply caution them to make sure that they keep all the parts of the tent together when they are setting it up or putting it away. Overall I would say that this tent is high quality at a great price, and would recommend it for anyone who is looking to do some camping with small groups or backpacking. August 16, 2014
John Muir Trail With a Timberline Did the John Muir trail with a timberline 2 in 1974. Still use the tent. At one point on the trail five hikers held up in it during a particularly bad storm. We even managed to sleep some. These are great tents. March 13, 2014
Have been using mine since 1984 and still do. I received my Eureka! Timberline 2 when I was a Boy Scout and I still use it today. It is a great tent that is lasting generations. Great for cold weather camping as the ventilation is great and allows you to not get condensation on the inside of the tent. December 20, 2013
Great tent I have been using timberlines for over twenty years, I was an eagle scout I the boy scouts and our troop used these tents all throughout my scouting career. They are durrible enough to hold up to the abuse that 12 year old boys are capable of. After the boy scouts I went through a string of tents from really expensive to cheep. None compare to the old A-frame eureka. One of the big features I like about this tent is the ability to close up all the windows, it seems most new tent designs just have mesh walls that don't close so rain and wind just come right in. I hope eureka continues making these because if they do I'll never buy another tent. February 11, 2013
I love this tent! I had this eureka tent 30 years ago and would still be using it but it got damp and musty , I have tried a few other tents since then and I have never loved a tent as much as this one, easy to set up and to carry and perfect sz for 2. I was so glad to find it again at dicks and their online service was wonderful July 7, 2012
I will buy this product again and again As a Eagle scout and life long camper, I have used the Eureka! Timberline for over 35 years and its been a hard working go to tent, from training for Philmont,13 great days at Philmont to Daytona Bike week and many many camp sites between. I have seen many tents come and go but this is a work horse. I would buy this product again and again!! March 23, 2012
Over 400 nights of camping I am an Eagle Scout and have use the heck out of this for over 25 years and even to this day. Well beaten over the years and it still is holding up. Good to see that Eureka is still making it. It slept 2 adults 2 children and a big dog for several years. September 16, 2011
Long-time user I've used my Timberline 2 since 1989. It has been good through 4-season camping with me, my kids use it in the back yard; this tent is part of my family! I just got home from a trip which included a righteous thunderstorm: wind, rain, heavy gusts. If I had better stakes in the ground, I believe my TL2 would have sat tight through it all! As it was, the tent did it's job; it protected me from the worst of the weather. After 23 years, I couldn't ask for anything more! June 15, 2011
