very light and easy to set up I bought the tent on a Friday and used it the same night for the first time. Set up in the dark was surprisingly easy. Even though I set it up with the foot uphill, I was able to get in and sleep comfortably. A word of caution though, don't expect to sit up, and this is not for the claustrophobic, but there was room for me and my duffel bag. October 28, 2014
Glad I got it This is my 3rd Eureka! Tent and I currently own 3 Eureka! Sleeping bags. Always good dollar value. Customer service has been satisfying. With that said. This tent is intended for grandkid(s) and my use when I go on solo backpacks. I have only used it once so far, but am very pleased. I am an average size male and was comfortable with a 70 liter pack at the foot of the tent. I like the sewn in fly. It is easy to roll July 23, 2014
Great tent!! It's well made, very lite and was super easy to set up. July 16, 2014
Don't plan on turning around in this thing The construction is good but if there is any wind the rain flap makes a lot of noise. It is very narrow inside, making it hard to get in and out of. I am 5'11'' and I had to go in feet first. If you are trying to not get the inside dirty, it makes it hard to take off your shoes and then get in the tent. The inside staged a little but that may have been me. It is a good tent if you are OK with keeping your stuff outside, and weight is a big issue. I think for the extra pound or two, I am going to go with something else. July 13, 2014
Not a bad little tent I needed a lite weight 1 man tent for a 2 day canoe trip. This tent did not disappoint. It was easy to setup and take down. I?m 6?2? and 225lbs and like to roll over often while I sleep; this tent had plenty of room for me. I kept the rain cover rolled up to enjoy the nice breeze while avoiding the bugs. This tent is NOT free standing so you must stake it down but that was not an issue. This tent will work well on my upcoming backpack trip. June 10, 2014
Great value good quality! Great , light weight and easy set up even in the dark. Packs back up easy and cleans up easy. Gave it 4 stars only because its not free standing so unless your in a place were you can stake it down easy your kind of out of luck. In sand or desert it's pretty much useless makes for a good bug net. June 4, 2014
like it but.... the tent is made great but you have absolutely no room for your gear to stay dry. The front part of the rain vly needs to extend out further for hiking gear storage May 4, 2014
It worked great in a very bad storm. I was worried water would come in or the fly would come off. The only negitive I have is I'm a tall guy and I've been using a blow up air bed inside which makes for zero headroom. I put a coleman air bed inside and its a little tight but it fits. That air bed is the twin not the small one made to sit on the rack. There's no reason to spend $300 for a one man tent unless you think your gonna be in 10 degree weather for a week. Excellent emergency/quick trip tent Its light weight and compact size make it a great emergency shelter to keep in your vehicle if you drive a lot to or through isolated areas. I got one to go in my bug out bag and will likely use it on group trips if that comes up. Not for the claustrophobic, however! The simplicity is very nice. Don't get it if you're expecting to need more room than this provides--definitely NOT for more than a couple of days comfortably--but for what it is, if you understand its purpose, it is excellent. Good Bang-for-the-Buck Eureka always makes a "good value" tent. Some of their tents are outstanding, expedition quality, some are good for backyard camp outs, but most all are a good bang-for-the-buck. This Solitaire is no exception. It is NOT an expedition quality, ultra light shelter but, once again, it is worth the money, ESPECIALLY with the discount that Dick's had going on at the time, (and maybe still does). You will instantly want to discard the "steel sevens" tent stakes in favor of some lightweight aluminum or titanium stakes. That will shave off a pound or more. I have read that some people send off for aluminum poles as well, which will shave off another few ounces. It is pretty easy to make this a sub-3 lb. tent, even with the addition of a lightweight ground cloth. It will be quite warm in the summer if you have to deploy the rainfly, but pretty cool if you don't, plus great stargazing. The close fitting fly will actually be a bonus in cold weather. I am a 6' guy, and have plenty of room inside, but your pack, etc, will have to go outside the tent. Not quite as lightweight as some of the higher end tents out there, but FAR less money, even at full retail. Sorry to keep repeating myself, but overall this tent is not perfect, but a great bang-for-the-buck. I would buy it again in a heartbeat! August 8, 2013
