Rated 3 out of 5 by Confined But Dry I spent a loooooooong 10 hours inside this tent on an AT section hike in a downpour. VERY small, you can not sit up in it but somehow I managed to get dressed, put shoes on, stipuff my sleeping bag and roll up my deflated thermarest whupile inside the tent the next morning. Got out, took the tent down in the rain, packed my backpack and started on the trail with the rain then stopping! The tent is just too small especially if you don't enjoy confined spaces. You can enter from the zipped top netting, but I flip undo it up impossible to secure the rain fly from inside. July 19, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good tent, but poles are an issue. Usable tent for the money will keep a first time camper (my 12 year old son) dry and insect free. Poles catch on material and are obviously a weak link. We are tasked with buying a dozen tents for my Scout Troop but with this tent I am going to seriously have to re-evaluate Eureka and perhaps go with another provider. In all fairness to Eureka we are retiring 20 plus year old Timberlines that have been brilliant with heavy use, hard ware and performed with excellence. Hmm... July 5, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Weak poles make for a worthless tent Before buying this tent for a bike tour I had read the reviews. There were a lot of statements about pole breakage, but I'd owned the Eureka Timberline years before and was thoroughly happy with it. So I took a chance on this tent. Bad mistake. The first pole sectional broke on use #8. I had already contacted Eureka and asked if I could have a replacement pole set before I was going to need it due to what many people said. I was informed that the company would only send one replacement. Well, when it broke, I asked for it. It was sent, but strangely, perhaps because I raised heck about how a company could produce such an inferior product, I was also offered the Spitfire instead. This made no sense - offer a tent worth double the price instead of just improving what is a major flaw with the Solitaire thus losing business. I was also informed that if I didn't want that, I could contact a certain company which specifically makes quality replacement poles for this tent... at half the price of the tent! Welcome to Eureka. By usage #20, 3 other sections had broken. I had kept the original pole set so I could use the sections as replacements (think McGyver), but now I was out (all breaks always occurred with the rear pole). I now have a tent which only uses the front pole. Utterly useless when it rains and spaciousless for general use. Will never buy from Eureka again. June 7, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor construction quality The tent itself I liked but the second time I used it, the one pole snapped and the other is already bent, they clearly were not designed to take the stress of bending the way they need to. I would spend a bit more money and go with a good one next time. June 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well worth the purchase This tent is perfect for someone looking to escape the confines of the everyday world and get back in touch with his/her natural side. Setup is incredibly simple and the design is superb! I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to spend any amount of time overnight out of doors. April 9, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by no headroom I bought this as a backpacking tent, used it the first time and hated it u can't sit upright in it at all. It is light easy set up and kept me warm and dry on a cold rainy night but not a good fit for anything but sleep. March 23, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not Bad Well I received my package but was sent a defective product. That was a bit of a bummer. I have to say that Dick's customer service was more than satisfactory in taking care of the problem and sending out another tent that was good to go. overall not a bad experience. BTW: I love this tent :) March 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm and Dry Kept my son warm and dry during a November hike on Devils Path in the Catskill mountains. Through rain and hail! November 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a very good tent for hiking in the mountains Great light weight tent for hiking in the mountains. October 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Suited for one person I enjoy using this tent more than a four person tent. It is easier to clean, get out of, and easier to take the rain fly off. Since I am a single person, this makes an ideal manufactured mobile home for someone on the go who uses foot travel as the main means of transportation. It would be even better, if possible, to make it a four seasons tent and allow it to collect rain water for drinking and survival situations. Lastly, it is very affordable compared to the other options for living; Great, for someone with a limited low income. September 22, 2015
