My all time favorite reel I must admit bias. I got a Mitchel 300 in the 1960's. It was my favorite reel and used it for twenty years until it got stolen. Finally, I got a new one. Most current products do not live up to the memories and expectations of their predecessors or original models. I am so impressed with the current Mitchel 300 that it seems BETTER than the one I had before. It is smooth during retrieve. The drag does not "fade" under stress. It just "feels right". It will be difficult to find fault with a reel that lives up to (and surpasses) my memories of the "original". January 25, 2013
Consistantly the best reel for your cash I own five Mitchell Reels in the 300 series, I have 2 of the original 300 from way back in the day. I have a 300x, a 300xg, and now this. They're all great, this is in my mind, the best reel company out there, and the 300 series has to be the greatest reel of all time. The design hasn't changed much, aside from more bearings, a new handle and a few cosmetic things. This reel is just like my others, smooth, great casting, and it just feels right! Do not buy Line snags in roller, usually resulting in cut line. Lost some nice tackle using this piece of junk. Look at the reviews on other sites and you will find the same info. April 3, 2011
