Bowflex SelectTech 52.5 lb Dumbbells 3.4 5 19 19
Never had a problem I have owned this set for over 5 years. I bought the stand as well. I have never had any issues that I see on a few reviews. I use these weights 4 days a week. I am looking to buy another set for my winter place in florida..... Great Porduct December 13, 2012
Just Flush Your $ Instead After a few weeks the weight adjustment knobs froze up making it impossible to change weight setting. I tried everything recommended in manual to no avail. Warning:Don't waste your money August 12, 2012
Great for interval weight training I've only had the product for about two weeks, but I couldn't be happier. Not only do you get a full set of dumbbells (up to 52 lbs) that takes up only 25% of the space that your normal set would use, but they also allow you to jump from exercise to excercise in a matter of seconds. Don't listen to the Bowflex haters Half of these reviews are from people who don't even own the dumbbells. I'm sorry, but if you see a broken set on display, you shouldn't be able to write a review. After 6 million kids in a store play with "anything", it's bound to get messed up. I've had this set for years now and have never had any problems. Can you slam them down on a hard surface? No. But that's not what I would do either way. I've been using them for P90x and other workouts and they work great. No problems at all. July 1, 2012
Worthless I would feel better if I would have thrown [$] in the fireplace instead of spending it on these worthless things. You might as well just put these in your china cabinet being as they crack and shatter if you drop them from two inches off the ground. I called Bowflex and they told me if I expected to have functioning dumbbells I would have to pay over $200 dollars to get them fixed. The twisting mechanism on one of the dumbbells also broke and is now completely useless. Thanks Bowflex for lightening my wallet. June 25, 2012
Very happy with this product. I purchased my Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells about a year ago and work out with them two to three times weekly. I've been able to gain considerable strength and muscle mass. They are great because they are so easy to use....changing weight is simple and quick, so I don't waste time juggling plates between sets. They are also compact. I've found you need to treat them rather gingerly (i.e., not just throw them back in the base), but if you are careful, problems with sticking, wheel rotation, etc., are virtually nonexistent. My only complaint about them--and it is a minor one--is that they are a bit long. I didn't buy the stand-up rack, and wish I had, as lifting them from the floor to position (especially with heavier weights) can be somewhat straining on back and groin. Overall, though, I am very pleased with them. November 30, 2011
Great Idea, Bad Implementation After about two months of use, one of barbells suddenly would not re-seat into the stand. After fudging with it for over fifteen minutes, it finally re-seated, but the dials would barely turn. Following that, the barbell would grab the incorrect weights from the stand, and once clear of the stand, would drop those weights onto the floor (one even painfully landed on my foot). All in all, a great idea but a bad implementation. I will likely look to replace them as soon as possible with the PowerBlock. August 25, 2011
Honest Review I purchased these over a year ago from [...]. I have used them extensively since that time and have had no issues whatsoever. Occassionally the dials are difficult to turn, but that is operator error. When you set the weights back onto the plate you just have to be sure they are lined up. It rarely happens though. For those of you who opted not to buy them based on testing the floor samples, that was your first mistake. Those have been handled and probably dropped by so many folks, I wouldn't expect them to be useable. I find the dial easy to turn, the weights smooth and the handles perfect. I have worked out for years and find these to be the best dumbbells around. March 3, 2011
great with p90x I have owned the 52.5 lb set for a year now and have been using it with P90X continuously for the last 11 months. I am quite satisfied with them as their ability to change weight quickly with the turn of a dial works perfectly with the fast pace of p90x. They are a bit bulky as compared to a traditional dumb bell but that is a minor complaint. I too have had the problem others spoke of that the dial will jam or is difficult to turn to change weights. After experiencing this I lifted the dumbells out with the dial set to 5 lbs, leaving most of the plates in the stand. I then picked up, dusted off, and repositioned each loose plate back into it's spot and reinserted the dumb bell. After doing this the dial turned like new. This was a minor inconveinence and is why I only gave this product 4 stars. After a years worth of use 4 days a week they are still going strong. Definitely feel I've got my moneys worth. Didn't get what i paid for!! I used these thirty times and they broke twice, and those little plastic seperations in the handle between the weights, they break easily. But thats o.k. you can buy a new handle for $100. Keep your money and buy steel. Bowflex will not sell you the parts you need to fix them, they'll just sell you a new one. And I don't care how carefull you are, everybody I know who has them has had problems. Do not buy these!!!!! January 17, 2011
